LSU head football coach Brian Kelly told a larger-than-usual Rotary Club of Baton Rouge audience Wednesday that the Tigers will take the field this season with the best roster since his arrival in Baton Rouge.

“On paper, this is the best roster that we will put out there,” Kelly says. “It’s not just about names. It’s about individuals that are here through the transfer portal process to win a championship for LSU.”

Noodle Bowl opened July 15 on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard. Its triangular-shaped building is easy to spot right off of the interst...

Last week, Congress approved a White House request to claw back $9 billion in previously approved funding. Most of the funding package was intended for foreign aid, but $1.1 billion would have supported the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

For Baton Rouge’s WRKF, it means losing about $150,000, or 8% of its annual budget, says general manager Paul Maassen.

David Facey, the entrepreneur behind the downtown nightclub Violet and the speakeasy-style Second Story that sits above it, is bringing a Silicon Valley mindset to Baton Rouge’s bar scene.

The LSU grad, who operated Dead Poet before its closure in July 2023, late last month launched the Violet Nightclub app, a platform that’s as much an online hub for his bars’ patrons as it is a data collection engine.
