Arioch Studios Brandon: "Just a bunch of guys loving what they do, and what we do is Art and more. More meaning anything and everything. Putting art together how WE want it.

A plateau for learning, growing, and perfecting whatever we want. This is a statement for all those who say that we can't. That it doesn't matter what they think or say, we're doing this anyway. Basically what I'm trying to say is, "The Revolution will not be Televised." Phillip: "To me Arioch is about bringing people together and celebrating self expression, being able to practice an art form, wh

ether it be visual arts, music, poetry...whatever! Then being able to use those art forms to convey a message. Also to encourage people to recognize that there is much more to this world than just the bu****it we see on TV, or hear on the radio. I feel that art (especially is this region) is under appreciated, but it is the very most fundamental part of civilization"

Shane: "I'd have to say that Arioch is a vision of bringing art of any medium together under one roof. Be it traditional art, drawing, painting etc...or Digital works, Music, Viral Video, writing of any kind, or anything in our imaginations that allow us to express ourselves. It is the idea of living, laughing, and crying together. Let us celebrate life and all its glories and horrors, wonders and sorrows, in every medium we can. This is a group of dedicated artists who will reach out to the world. Kinda like Van Gough and Gauguin's "Artist's Colony" only without the drama and ear mutilation.

Since I’m trying to come out of this creative hiatus I’ve been in for about almost two years. I’ve been thinking about all the time I’ve been on YouTube and the things I’ve learned for art, music, and writing. They’re all just sitting there in playlist. I thought, “Why I’m chillin’ trying to figure out what I want for myself, these playlist of information are just sitting there gathering dust. “ UNTIL NOW. I created a YouTube channel so people can checkout videos from the content creators I follow in my PLAYLIST. I even got one for beginning Skateboarders like me. So come and gather underneath this growing tree of information. Even I am behind on so many of these videos (There’s a lot ). I haven’t upload any original videos accept for a REALLY quick one to test out if the upload works, it’s me and a couple friends from back in the day goofing off on our Art Night. The bit of dialogue made me smile so I left it up! Anyway I hope this helps people on there own journeys. The search word is OMEGAMMX2. Enjoy!

SCHOOL DAYZ #4

This painting is pretty much the sum of all my still life work. It's way better then my paintings would of been if I had no prior knowledge of what I learned in this class, but at the same time there were things that I wished that I did better. Things that I did well were rendering or making things seem 3-dimensional, colors, and composition in this case how I decide to pick my subject, what to include in the picture frame and what angle that picture frame would be. My instructors criticism included lack of intensity in certain areas like the wooden board on the left and the background curtain, and drawing issues like the cup and bottles wonkiness. Personally I wish that I could of capture the wood grain and rendering of the weird wooden shelf on right, and rendered the background curtain folds better. Anyway I received an 88% a B+ , I just hunger for an A . I have one more to go, which I've already did, but you'll have to wait ;-)

Brandon's tape deck #7

Since we're all busy working on our own personal projects, I thought I'd put up at least what I'm listening too! I'm jazzin' out man to some John Coltrane, it's beautiful, sad and deep. I think that now a days people don't even understand how to even begin to appreciate music for music sake. If it doesn't have lyrics about the club or a break up people aren't trying to feel it. They need the music to tell them how to feel instead of just feeling the vibe. And with the riots going on jazz feels like a soundtrack. Anyway let me stop talking so you can go back to your Nicki Manaj and Katy Perry now. Y'all ain't hearin' me!

SCHOOL DAYZ #3

Hey Facebook, it's me Brando, what's up ! What's up with me you ask? I've been tolling away in the painting lab, now I come to you with my newest efforts! This is the first color painting in our class. You had to take the concepts that we learned ; lights and darks, lighting, value shifts, intensity and layering, then also adding color shifts, color theory, and temperature shifts like warm colors (including red, orange, yellow and sometimes black) and cool colors (including blue, green, purple and sometimes white). So the thing is to balance them and make all of them strong . The thing that I learned the most is that nothing is just one color , even if you see one area of color like in the bottle, lets say the shadow side, it's shadow use black right? WRONG! There are at least 5 different colors and in the real thing there are probably dozens more. I only used black if it was impossible to get that color darker and to keep intensity. The white on the torn label is not just white, there is orange and blue in it, at some parts there's green in the blue bottle and red in the green bottle not including the reflection. You are always adjusting colors also, by the end of the drawing I can not tell you what exact hues (colors) aRe in the painting I changed them so much and that's a good thing. Anyway the problem was that the drawing wasn't symmetrical, which was a result of rushing and I had trouble seeing that it was warped from close up .The composition was simple because of the worry of handling color. The instructor also said I could of made the background more colorful but honestly how much color could you bring out of an old chalkboard, admittedly it could of used some intensity, but the other person who did the chalkboard I though brought out too much color, but he didn't say anything about that. Anyway the positive feedback was I did a great job rendering the bottles and showing a sense of light. So the grade I ended up getting was a B+ . Still can't get that A !

Painting 2

So my second painting went off better, I had a better understanding of the steps and what I was doing, I'm not saying I was a master by any means or even in full control, I'm saying it made better sense this time. The hardest part was coming up with a composition that was challenging but not impossible to do. I had to of had gone through at least 6 sketches before coming up with one that I liked and could work with but when I saw the lines in my chosen composition, I was in love! I'm not going to bore you with the process of painting this time, it's the same one from the first painting I posted, the only difference was I had to coat the canvas with liquin and yellow ocre before I got started.

My teacher pointed out pretty much the same things I knew I was having issues with. I had trouble figuring out the local color of the lemon and pepper and balancing them between the values of the rest of the painting and that the hanging cloth could have made way a smoother value transitions. He did dig my sense of perspective and ambition, since I had a BUNCH of objects to find local values for, when I could of done less objects. My final grade was a B+ ( ugh, still can't crack an A !).

Brandon's Tape Deck #5

Hey, here's a little something to remind everyone to keep hustlin' keep chasing your dreams no matter what it is and no matter what everyone around you tells you! Existence is nothingness without something to chase. Lately there have been a lot of roadblocks in my own pursuit, a lot of down times, I believe and know my faith in art will pay off, if I get out off comfort zones and keep moving forward. Becoming the Grind! ( no that's not a typo) ! As I say that they're people around me that I see that want to say they want do what they love, but haven't really expressed it. I'm not calling people out, often I am amongst you, but I want whoever is reading this to reflect back on yourselves and ask "can I be doing more?" . When I ask that to myself most often the answer is "yes", then often I don't do more! I'm trying to break that habit so one day, I can tell others when they ask me "How's life ?" I can answer truthfully "Living the Dream, sorry, living MY DREAM." So take this to heart, and maybe we all can be our own Donald Trump.

Painting 1

This is my first time I really actually painted. Sure I painted before but it was a paint by numbers way of thinking. That means that my thinking process was, hey the sky is blue so paint it blue, the ball is red so paint it red, the grass is green and so on and so forth, and I've also even did a grayscale and monochromatic piece but that was just me using amateur techniques of not trying to match too many values. But even with values I still didn't even look at lighting. I've drawn from a still life but this was the first time painting from one.
The first thing we did was transfer the charcoal line drawing from newsprint to canvas board in which I messed that up, as you can see by all the initial smudges.
The first painting assignments was to map out our local values, meaning what's the lightest part of a object and what's the darkest part of the object . The paint we use in our class is oil paint, a paint on its own will take days for it to dry, which was a constant problem cause of me not using enough liquin (a paint thinner like substance ), using to much liquin, putting on paint to thick, putting on paint to thin, and losing my local value ( meaning changing the value scale of my objects and having to meaning objects the same value scale) , blurred edges and drawing wise, proportion issues ( the bottle is too small) and perspective issues ( the top of the cube). I also need to learn how to think on my feet , make decisions on the canvas, only mixing local colors then adding shade (black) or tint (white) and stop planning every move.

The positive part of the paining was the drawing of the bag and the ambition of the composition. I also really enjoyed painting the cloth , which was one of the reasons why I chose the next paintings composition .

Anyway I ended up getting a solid B on this painting. Hopefully the next one will be better.

FAN ART FRIDAY-ish this time I decided to do a take on Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z . I used anatomy studies that I'm doing and applied them. You can tell that I'm not all the way through my studies as the head, chest upper arms are more confident then the rest of the body. This drawing is just stop on the journey of mastery of anatomy! FINAL FLASH!!!!! ;-)
