Last installment of Mr Bongo's zine is dedicated to SONOR Music Editions and its deep research into the underground world of Italian Library music.

For the latest instalment of our Digging Deeper interview series, it was a joy to sit down with SONOR Music Editions and talk about the world of library music with founder Lorenzo Fabrizi and label manager John Henriksson.

The past few decades have seen a real resurgence in the realms of library music. A world of often instrumental, multi-genre productions, composed and recorded specifically for use in various commercial and media works. It’s obscurity and originality has been a source of sampling gold and since 2013 Rome-based Sonor Music Editions have dug deep into the golden era of Italian library and soundtrack music reissuing some exceptional releases from the prolific ‘60s/’70s heydays. We spoke to Lorenzo and John about how the label came about, the nature of the genre and the struggles it brings when licensing music from this sphere and the contemporary artists who are keeping the scene alive.
