*NEED EVERYONE'S HELP!*

Hey everyone! Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation has opened up nominations for nonprofits that positively impact the mental health of youth.

Please take a moment and nominate Ingenium (our nonprofit that we do game design and 'soft skill' work with kids through), if we're one of the selected nonprofits, we could get up to 150K for our outreach programs. To put it mildly, this would help us a LOT in our mission to impact the world through storytelling!

Hey everyone! We're getting ready to head to the University of Montana in Missoula tomorrow to show off Burst! and Shattered Soul's prototypes at their Montana Game Conference!

As part of it, I figured we'd show an animation one of our artists, Pasquale, is working on for Izzidia in Shattered Soul!

In the final game, she'll be able to fight along side her sister (and split the weapon into 2 pieces, with each sister taking a piece), although some attacks will be done entirely by Izzidia.

Burst! is the science-powered rhythm game that puts you in charge of a fireworks show! You blow up fireworks to the beat while swapping out elements from the Periodic Table to change the explosion colors!!

Fun times in game development:

When making a 3D character, the default pose they're made in is called T-Pose or A-Pose.

When playing a game, you should never see it. However, sometimes animations glitch and the character will default to T/A-pose.

This has become an internet meme where people say the video game characters are just 'asserting dominance' by striking T-Pose or A-Pose.

I first learned of this today as our programmer, Jarrett Workman, who is working on Shattered Soul's new prototype, sent me this video of Izzidia in-engine T-Posing all over the countryside.

He then had to explain the meme to me, and I only felt *slightly* old that internet and gamer culture had to be explained to me LOL!

Anyways, here's Izzidia rocking her bad self. Will be even more dominant once we get her, her weapon and her sister (they fight together as a tag team of sorts) working in-engine!!!

The ACE Northwest Region team has a new Assistant Representative! Meet Josh Hughes. Josh brings some exciting new experience and background not just to the Northwest Region, but for ACE as a whole, and we’re excited to have him as a part of our team. Representative Sean Randall and Assistant Representative Steve Gzesh had the pleasure of getting to know him over the two weeks during the 2024 ACE Journey to Central Europe.

Josh resides in Great Falls, Montana (and yes, Montana is a part of the Northwest region!) where he is a video game designer and a founder of Add-A-Tudez Entertainment Company, home to Montana’s first two PlayStation and X-Box game studios: Team KAIZEN. The studio is a “teaching studio” focused on education and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). He has an extensive background in hosting live streams and has been building relationships with coaster designers from S&S, Vekoma, RMC and Frontier Interactive: the minds behind rhe Planet Coaster game franchise. He’s been a member of ACE since 2023 and has attended several events such as Coaster Con 45, where Dollywood’s “Lightning Rod” can be seen in the background of his profile photo, and the before-mentioned Europe trip.

Please welcome Josh to the team. We look forward to planning new things with him; especially as ACE and the Northwest Region continue to grow and evolve.

Had a really cool thing happen! I made a Fortnite level (5691-2578-1606) meant to be accompanied by a live presentation.

It's meant to teach kids about Jobs in the Video Game Industry, as well as the importance of diversity, inclusion, dignity and respect!

2 kids found the level randomly, and joined my party to thank me for teaching them the importance of inclusion!

I was completely floored! I didn't have my chat on, so I made my wolf-dude howl so they knew I heard them :-)

I really need to add voice overs to that level so it doesn't require a live presenter, but so damn cool that it even got the point across with no dialog!

In today's video, Team KAIZEN programmer Jarrett shows us how he's making a ferris wheel for the Shattered Soul prototype!

This will be used to test our gameplay, which revolves around players being able to jump on -and fight on- anything in the environment!
