Volunteer!

****update****

You all helped this ask go slightly viral and for that we are grateful. We just have the early early morning crew to figure out, but we think we’ve found a crew for that.

When we first asked for help, we’d only had 36 applications in. Within the first 3 hours we had over 40 more. Today we have over 120 applications to assist in the volunteer work. WOW, you all really stepped up for community and we thank you greatly. These hands will help in such a huge way, that our 100% volunteer board might even have a moment to step away from their zones for a break to see the success and fruits of our labor.

We do this for all of you, and it takes all of us to create community! So I toast you all for giving us back that which even Harvey Milk knew “Hope Cannot Be Silenced”. And we all know that PRIDE CANNOT BE SILENCED!

6 days and we will be celebrating together! See you all at the Pink Pony Prom!

Sean here; President and Festival Director! (I added my photo, so you can see the chubby trans kid (old man) who's reaching out for your help!

OK, we have to be honest, as this year has been a lot for many of us. We are finalizing the details of the festival, and in order to meet some of our permitting needs with the state, we have to have at least 25 more volunteers who are 21+ to sign up to assist us. These volunteer needs aren't just for set up. Volunteers are also there to be eyes and ears for our volunteer security needs. We hire security, yes. We have to hire some police, yes. But in order to cover the grounds fully for our alcohol permits, we are in need of folks who can just walk the perimeter fencing, and watch that kids don't drink.

So I'm pleading with our community, will you sign up and help us make this festival a great success? We usually have close to 75 applicants, but this year we are short that.

Here's what you get:
Ogden Pride Volunteer Swag, is you volunteer for more than 6 hours a $10 voucher toward food at one of our vendors, and the pride you carry knowing that you were a part of this fantastic festival and celebration. (ok, that last one was cliche, but I still feel very proud of the work we do as a community and I carry that small token with me all year round.)

So, what say you? Do you have some free time to help us out, specifically to Sunday August 3rd between 11 am and 8 pm? If you only sign up for this day, and write you just want to walk for security needs, I'll take it!

"The festival that could have been an email."
Hetero Awesome Fest in Boise a big flop.

A self-proclaimed celebration of "family values" turned into a weekend of sparse turnout and a minor public disruption at Boise’s Hetero Awesome Fest, held June 20–21 in Cecil D. Andrus Park, across from the Idaho State Capitol.
