Who we are (and some rules for Facebook comments)

At the Independent mail, we have 13 journalists who live in and love Upstate South Carolina. We are dedicated to keeping our community informed, providing you stories that range from things to do this weekend to watchdog reports on local government to in-depth investigations. We request public records (and fight for them) so you know what’s happening in your government and the judicial system. We report on breaking news (often right here on Facebook, first), so you know how you can keep yourself and your family safe. We work nights and weekends to bring you up-to-the minute sports coverage.

If you have a question about our community, please feel free to ask – whether that be in a post on our wall or a direct message. We will do our best to answer your questions – and if we don’t know the answer, we will find it.

Guidelines for comments and posts on our page:

On Facebook, we welcome anyone to comment on our posts, but we do have some guidelines to keep this forum a safe space for everyone. We hate limiting anyone’s ability to comment on our page, but in order to keep the discussions here civil, we will suspend commenting privileges for users who repeatedly violate these guidelines.
