To my nephew Okiesse: You just made your 11th revolution around the sun, so it will be some years until you see social media. I’m writing this as a time capsule. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the world from now until then, but I want you to know that I’m doing my best to play whatever small part I can to make it better.

When you get social media and you look up your uncle Aub, you’ll see all kinds of things. Credit I don’t deserve and hate that isn’t warranted. And one day on your own social media you’ll see the same thing; about you.

But what I want you to know more than anything, is that I love you little buddy. You’re gonna grow up and be a great man. No matter how much wisdom you have, you’re gonna make mistakes. And I’m gonna share with you all of the mistakes I made, so maybe you can recognize them a little faster than I did.

The truth about who you are is a paradox. You’re perfect and worthy of all of God’s love just as you are; and there is a better version of you waiting for your tomorrow. You’ll die to who you know yourself to be and be reborn a better version countless times. This process will never stop.

Life is a school for the soul, and even the great masters know that they are the humblest students. Enjoy the journey young buck, and I look forward to the day you start beating me in all the games we love so much.

Safe. Like a safe getting dropped on your chest.
Effective. At giving you more respiratory illness symptoms.

The impulse here is to say “see I told you so.” But don’t. Yes, you can be proud of yourself for withstanding the largest commercial propaganda campaign in history.

But look in the mirror. What have you fallen for? Maybe you were right about the vax, but you think the earth is flat. It’s round y’all. Or maybe like me, you thought that no one was manipulating the weather (you can go to weathermod.org and read about it). Or perhaps also like me, you thought Trump was going to release the damn Epstein list.

It’s impossible to get it all right. It’s okay to be wrong. What’s not okay, is being stubborn about something you used to think was right, in the face of enormous evidence, just to ‘be right’. Who cares! The coolest, most punk rock thing you can do is to admit you were wrong.

I get it tho, when there is a sunk cost the impulse is always to double down. You’ll see people doubling down in the comments below 👇

Give them love. Because that could easily be you in one turn of the next wheel 🩶

And if you’re curious why I’m still talking about this, it’s because it is still happening. Companies like Pfizer who paid billions in criminal fines are still bankrolling, while the Vaers adverse events pile up, and the purported benefits disappear.

I am curious though, how many of you still support the Covid vaccine?

The antidote to fear is courage. Faith takes courage.

Sometimes the greatest courage is in the ability to surrender 🩸

Sometimes the greatest courage is the willingness to plant your heels 🛡️

The discretion to know which course to take, is sometimes difficult.

I have found over and over again that energy levels play a key role in this discernment.

Not only does low energy affect the precision of your thinking, it can affect your ability to execute on that decision.

Happy to be here in Sedona, charging up in the sun and the rocks, finding the balance for ourselves 🌞

I’ve lived such a blessed life, filled with great joy and much suffering. But I hope that when I collect the days and moments of my life, it is the joy that I remember.

God willing I will live a long life, but nothing is guaranteed. My cousin, whose character I admired most in the world was killed by a drunk driver in the middle of a weekday. So I suppose the time for remembering the joy, is right now. 💛

Do you have animal guides? I’ve always connected with dragons, and I have a deep relationship with that cross - cultural totem.

There is a Chinese Proverb: “The dragon teaches you that if you want to climb high, you have to do it against the wind.”

And this is similar to the buffalo, which I have recently forged a deep lifelong connection to.

Great outdoorsman Steven Rinella notes “The buffalo doesn’t avoid the storm; it meets it with stubborn resolve, knowing survival lies in confronting the worst of it.”

What is your storm? What is your wind? How will you confront it? Does the great captain hate the storm, or somehow find a way to enjoy it?

Zen master Ikkyu Sojun said “throw me into hell, and I’ll find a way to enjoy it.”

And yet, what most any of us are experiencing who are reading this post is not hell—compared to what our First Nations brothers and sisters of all races experienced - and in many cases are still experiencing.

First of all I want to acknowledge the hundreds of messages of support that I have received from people over the past few days after sharing the my latest podcast with Vylana and Alana. Thank you, truly.

Second of all, I want to acknowledge all of the projected enmity, anger, or concern cloaked in righteousness and some imagined omniscience…Thank you, truly.

The first time I got really publicly attacked was after I announced my partnership with Joe Rogan for Onnit in 2011. It really shook me then.

But over the years I have come to learn that if you don’t get this reaction, you aren’t trying hard enough to speak your truth. Because the reality is, whether it is va 💉 ines, politics, religion or relationship, there are dogmas that are woven into people’s identity.

I have made a vow with God to live my life in truth, and if there are to be arrows let them come at me in the daylight, in the sunshine of my authenticity. And as the lieutenant said to Leonidas “If the arrows blot out the sun, we will fight in the shade.”

Almost every one of my dear friends and people I admire have been attacked. That’s why I admire them. Joe, Bode, Bobby, Jake, Andrew, Tim, Marc, Fr. Sean…I could go on.

And yet even if these attacks are unjust, as Joe once told me, listen to them and see if there is something to learn. Often there is! Sometimes there isn’t.

What I have learned over the years, is that your truth, your honesty with yourself, your relationship with God, all of that is your shield. 🛡️ But even still, sometimes the arrows find a home in the soft flesh. They need sunlight and love to heal, which is where you can come together broken and wounded back to your ‘Ohana and just say “help me family.”

I never really thought much about the tradition of the talismans used to ward off the ‘evil eye’ in cultures stretching back to Mesopotamia- but I get it! The attacks come in all dimensions.

And yet with a roar I say “Nake nula waung! Hoka hey!” Today is a good day.

👁️ OUR THOUGHTS ON PODCAST IN OUR OWN VOICES 🔻

Vylana: I always imagined myself in a traditional monogamy. But actually, I’ve only briefly experienced such a thing. The majority of my life was filled with deceptions and infidelity. As difficult as it has been to embrace this expansion of possibility, I have actually become the most free. It’s paradoxical - I am the most safe. I can rest in the bedrock that there are no secrets between me & my husband. No surprises left to bite me. And in moving beyond my fears I have gained the love of ally, friend, and teacher: Alana. Whose presence in my life has gifted me healing in sisterhood my heart has always needed. Someone that is not here to take from me or compete with me, but is a stand for my marriage, my greatest joy and my deepest love.

During the time when I was with my lover Josh, I experienced the bliss of having MORE love in my life and not less. Not only for Josh, but for Aubrey too. No comparison, no competition, just a widening of the field of love. I speak to this in detail on the podcast ❤️

This evolution has been the school that has taught me invaluable lessons in unconditional love. Loving your WHOLE partner, in their entirety. Not just the parts that make my ego comfortable, but the parts that invite me to love outrageously & inclusively. I want to be that Woman. I want my children to have that woman as their mother and that model of the divine feminine. And they are asking that of me.

I believe that if it’s really love - clarified so precisely and honestly, it is truth. And you can project from your prism, but please also trust me. I have taken years of diligent self-work to explore the depths of who I really am.

You may not agree with my choice and that’s okay. I would never advocate for anyone to not live in their truth & I am not recommending anyone follow my footsteps. But I choose to be bold and I choose to be brave and I choose to expand my hearts capacity to love beyond what society paints as “the way.” I’m just sharing my story because that is the greatest act of service I can give: my true authenticity.
