Fake Nurse Arrested Using 20 Aliases, 7 SSN’s Across 9+ Facilities in 5+ States

39-year-old Shannon Nicole Womack stands accused of posing as a nurse in multiple states, using an extraordinary web of deception that involved more than 20 aliases and seven Social Security numbers. Her actions, stretching back to 2020, allegedly allowed her access to vulnerable patients in rehabilitation centers and nursing homes, exposing critical gaps in the healthcare employment system.Multiple Aliases and IDs: Investigators say Womack assumed at least 20 different names, supported by seven unique Social Security numbers. Credential Theft: Womack targeted four real nurses from southern states, stealing their professional credentials and supporting documentation to present herself as a legitimate LPN, registered nurse, and even nurse supervisor.
Fake Businesses: Police revealed she went as far as to create a fake staffing agency—an LLC—to “self-deploy” herself for jobs, sometimes even acting as her own reference or point of contact for job verification.
Medications Theft: In one documented instance, after just one shift at a facility in Washington County, she was found responsible for the disappearance of over 120 oxycodone tablets, and several patients were left without medication.
How She Was Caught
Traffic Stop Breakthrough: The investigation began in April 2025, when Womack was pulled over for a routine traffic violation in Pennsylvania. She presented troopers with fake identification, which triggered deeper investigation.

Evidence Collected: A search of her vehicle revealed a trove of incriminating materials: multiple forms of ID, medical records, patient logs, prescription medications prescribed to facility residents, and nursing equipment tied to several different healthcare roles
Multi-State Warrants: As the search continued, authorities discovered she was wanted for similar offenses in Georgia, Tennessee, New Jersey, and Indiana.

Female police officer leaps into water, fights career criminal before making arrest

The NYPD hailed the actions of the brave officer, describing how she and her colleagues made bold moves in the arrest of suspected car thief Matthew Swafford in Queens on Aug. 5.
Swafford "didn’t count on our dedicated NYPD 101 Precinct officers following him without hesitation, putting duty before danger," the department wrote on X as it released footage showing the female officer removing her gear before jumping into the water and engaging in a hand-to-hand struggle with Swafford.
The agency told Fox News Digital that the arrest of Swafford unfolded after responding officers "received information from the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol that they had located a black 2025 Honda sedan, which was reported stolen.
A canvass was conducted, and the 29-year-old male driver was located nearby. The male, in an attempt to flee the location, jumped off a dock and into the East Rockaway Inlet," the NYPD said in a statement.
"Officers pursued the male into the water and successfully affected the arrest. Additional officers arrived on scene along with FDNY EMS and Park's Department Lifeguards and safely brought the male to shore without any further incidents," it added.

Man caught on roof of Scottsdale gallery with stolen art worth $250,000 sentenced

PHOENIX — A man caught stealing from a Scottsdale art gallery last year has been sentenced to five years in prison, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday.
Harpreet Singh previously pleaded guilty to one count of theft after being caught on the roof of a gallery he he tried to steal art worth $250,000 from, prosecutors said.
The 34-year-old tried to steal seven pieces of art, including three by Pablo Picasso and two by Andy Warhol.
Police who responded to the scene at Scottsdale and Indian School roads saw Singh’s BMW parked directly below an emergency access ladder, prosecutors said. After setting up a perimeter, they found several art pieces scattered around, along with gloves, several tools and a face mask.
Eventually police found Singh hiding on the roof of a nearby gallery.

What else did Scottsdale art thief plead guilty to?

In addition to pleading guilty to theft, Sing also pled guilty to one count of interference with monitoring devices.
He cut off his ankle monitor about six week after he posted bond, prosecutors said. For this he was sentenced to 3.5 years of supervised probation
Art heists may seem glamorous in the movies, but in Maricopa County, they end with a prison sentence instead of a dramatic getaway,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in the announcement.

How did police catch Scottsdale art thief?

The Scottsdale Police Department detected Singh’s theft after an alarm went off at the American Fine Art Gallery in the early hours of Jan. 7, 2024. An employee called authorities after hearing the alarm, seeing the art was missing and hearing Singh in the upstairs office.

Thanks to the quick response from Scottsdale Police and MCAO prosecutors Richelle Burch and Jonathan Hutcheson, the only art this thief will be looking at for the next few years will be whatever’s etched on the walls of his cell,” Mitchell said.
