Six States One Podcast Six States One Podcast is a show about the New England Revolution and our awesome supporter culture.

We're here to talk about the New England Revolution and the stuff that makes our supporter culture so great.

29/09/2021

We want to apologize to all our listeners for the radio silence this season. It’s with a heavy heart that we must finally announce that we will no longer be able to produce Six States One Podcast.

The combination of health, work, and family commitments, in addition to MLS’s removal of the Form Guide from their website has left us unable to continue at the level our listeners deserve. Alex, Jon, and Ray are all well and we are so moved by all of your love and support over the years. It has been an honor to make this show for you. Thank you for listening, and for all your feedback.

We continue to support the Revs and would like to gently point out that our boys began this unprecedented level of success at exactly the same time we stopped producing our show. We’re not taking credit, we just want it on the record. Thanks, again, so much to all our listeners. Our decision to stop producing this show was an extremely difficult one, but it is eased slightly by knowing there are many exceptional journalists and podcasts who continue to cover this team on a daily basis. Please follow and support them, especially the independents — believe us when we tell you it is truly a labor of love. Keep up the great work everyone, and we’ll see you at Gillette.

It’s ok to let yourself believe. It’s fine.

Is there anything more than the Boys in Blue making a stunning pandemic playoff run during a start / stop season in which most supporters have been barred from games and expectations were curious at best?

Almost no one picked New England to advance to the Eastern Conference Championship on Sunday, and even fewer have them moving on to the MLS Cup. Regardless, Bruce Arena is doing what supporters have longed for: establishing a culture of winning for the “other” team in Foxborough.

Boston.com’s Hayden Bird and Tanner Rebello from Trifecta Sports are our guest’s this week.

Then, the eighth-seeded Revs could make league history on Sunday, but they’ll have to get past a confident Columbus Crew. We preview it all with Orri Benatar, of the Massive Report.

“Now it’s win or go home, and I don’t want to go home.”

That’s Andrew Farrell’s attitude as he and the New England Revolution prepare to face the Montreal Impact for the fifth time this season in the opening round of the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.

New England has not won a playoff match in six years. Both teams are limping into the postseason, but the Revs may hold an advantage on paper, and have beaten Montreal in three straight matches. Hayden Bird, of Boston.com and The Boston Globe and Jonathan Sigal, from MLSsoccer.com are our guests.

Then we welcome Tristan D’Amours, from The Scrum Podcast, to preview this first-ever playoff meeting between Montreal and New England. Both clubs are familiar with each other, having met four times already this year. How does that change Bruce Arena and Thierry Henry’s game plan?

Finally, it’s been a roller coaster of a season for most MLS players, but what if 2020 was your rookie year, and you landed on a team coached by legend, then worked your way into consideration for newcomer of the year? Check out our exclusive conversion with Revs rookie center back Henry Kessler.

Two steps forward, one step...standing in place.

The New England Revolution and Nashville Soccer Club played to a scoreless draw Saturday in a first-ever meeting that saw the Revs dominate possession and dramatically out-shoot the league newcomers, who were content to park the bus and steal a point on the road.

With the home draw, New England drops one spot in the East to sixth place, with eight games remaining in the 2020 regular season.

Tanner Rebello, of Trifecta Sports, and Sean Sweeney, of the Bay State Soccer Sentinel, are our guests and we get their takes on this fruitless staring contest. Then we welcome back good friend, Tej Sahota, of Waking the Red, as the Revs prepare for a Wednesday clash with one of the best in the East, Toronto FC.

The Revs stretched their unbeaten streak to three games on Sunday at Audi Field against a struggling DC United side that held the game scoreless until the 86th minute.

Cristian Penilla hooked up with Gutavo Bou for the late winner and DP Adam Buksa scored his first goal since July as New England earned a clean sheet win to move into fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

Head Coach and Sporting Director Bruce Arena was pleased with the performance, saying “that was the best game we’ve played this year.”

Boston.com's Hayden Bird and Jonathan Sigal of Major League Soccer (MLS) are our guests this week as we break it all down. Then Ben Wright, of Broadway Sports Media, stops by to preview the Revs first-ever meeting with the Music City XI, as New England plays host to Nashville SC this Saturday.

More than halfway through the 2020 season and the New England Revolution are still searching for an identity.

The Revs fell in the final seconds of stoppage time at Chester, PA last Saturday thanks to a brace from Anthony Fontana, which included a stinger in the fifth minute of stoppage time to give Philadelphia the 2-1 win.

After going down in the 74th minute, Gustavo Bou and Tajon Buchanon connected seven minutes later for Buchanon’s first MLS goal, knotting the match at one apiece. But the Revs were already down to 10 men after Matt Poslter was sent off in the 56th minute and proved unable to secure a result. The loss moves the Revs to eighth in the MLS East (3-5-3) as they prepare for another go around with NYCFC in Foxborough this weekend.

Can Lee Nguyen be the catalyst that leads this club to more scoring chances? And when will Adam Buksa find the back of the net again? We break it down with Jason York of SBI Soccer and the New England Soccer Journal and Tanner Rebello, of Trifecta Sports.

The Revs return home to host NYCFC this weekend and we preview that match with Michael Anderer, from Blue City Radio.

Three years after leaving on frosty terms, Lee Nguyen — a member of the New England Revolution All-Time Team — is back in Foxborough.

The former captain and midfielder is expected to help fill the playmaking hole left in Carles Gil’s absence. Per MLS quarantine rules, Nguyen is not expected to play this weekend when the Revs travel to Philadelphia to meet the Union.

New England reaches the midpoint of the season coming off a 2-1 win over Chicago FC on the back of a Teal Bunbury brace and a season-high six saves from Matt Turner. Boston.com's Hayden Bird joins us to grade the Revs overall performance to date as the club continues to search for an identity.

Then Joe Tansey, with Fox Sports The Gambler, previews this Saturday’s rematch with the Union, who currently sit second in the East. The two sides ended their last match in a 0-0 draw, and while Tansey predicts we can expect another low-scoring affair, he says this go around should be more entertaining.

After three draws and a loss in the last four matches, the Revs are once again back to their winning ways -- picking up three big points on the road Tuesday at DC United. The 2-1 win was their first in a trio of attempts at Audio Field and came on a night that saw the Revs stumble out the gate then go up 2-0, only to survive a 30-minute weather delay, questionable penalty and finish a man down.

New England is now 2-1-4 and sitting in sixth place in the MLS Eastern Conference. Jason York, from SBI Soccer and Tanner Rebello, from Trifecta Sports, join Ray, Jon and Alex this week to break it all down.

New England returns home this weekend to take on a listless Red Bull side that continues to search for its identity. Can the Revs carry Wednesday’s momentum into Saturday? We talk about it with Mark Fishkin, of the Seeing Red Podcast.

🚨NEW POD🚨-- MLS restarts its restart this week as new faces arrive in New England to help Bruce Arena shore up deficiencies in the Revs attacking half.

The boss was quick to point out Tuesday that no immediate signing — including newly-minted Revs Kekuta Manneh and Tommy McNamara — could replace the injured Carles Gil. Nevertheless, Arena will be eager to utilize the midfield depth, versatility and experience both veterans bring to Foxborough. Boston.com’s Hayden Bird joins the boys this week to talk about it.

Then, we look ahead to Thursday’s rematch with the Philadelphia Union, who ended the Revs’ MLS is Back run in the first game of the knockout stage last month. Joe Tansey, with Fox Sports The Gambler and The Union Soccer Podcast, tells us what we can expect.

Six States, 100 Episodes.

Ray, Jon and Alex mark the centennial pod by welcoming Jason York with SBI Soccer and the New England Soccer Journal, and Tanner Rebelo of Trifecta Sports. We look back at the Revs’ scoreless draw against Toronto FC and breakdown what life could look like without Carles Gil, who is unlikely to play this weekend.

On Saturday, the Revs face Philly in the knockout stage, with $1.1 million and a spot in the Concacaf Champions League potentially on the line. New England hasn’t beaten the Union since July, 2017, but the Revs are also undefeated in the month of July since Bruce Arena took over in 2019. Jonathan Tannenwauld of the Philadelphia Inquirer is our guest and helps us preview the match. Can the Revs survive and advance?

Finally, we round out the pod with a visit from an old friend. (Hint: his initials are Matthew Puglise)
