| Mass Influx of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) into Duk Padiet

A significant influx of 10,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) has been reported in Duk Padiet following displacement from Uror County and Ayod County.

Oyet has been mobilizing the SPLM-IO forces to attack most of the government garrisons across the country, Oyet has become the focal person in the SPLM-IO after the arrest of Machar.

Dr. Riek Machar was arrested by the government after Nasir attack in early 2025.

According to local sources, the advancing forces moved from multiple directions, engaging IO positions on the outskirts of the town. The operation is part of a broader government effort to reassert control over strategic locations in Jonglei State that have been under IO influence.

Residents in nearby areas reported heavy movement of troops and military vehicles, prompting civilians to flee toward safer locations. The humanitarian situation remains unclear, with concerns over displacement, access to food, and medical services.
