You’ll recall a total a 7 suspects were arrested in connection to a massive sexual abuse case involving 10 children. Three of those suspects were scheduled to have what’s known as Aniah’s Law hearing Thursday, but the hearing that never happened.

Suspects Rebecca Brewer, Ricky Terrell, and Sarah Terrell waived their right to fight for a bond. That meant there was no need to have a hearing.

Aniah’s Law allows a judge to deny bond for certain felony charges and this case is chocked full of them. The three suspects are facing charges ranging from sexual torture to first degree r**e to human trafficking.

The next step in the case is the prelim hearing in August. We got a brief response from Rebecca Brewer before she was escorted in the courthouse.

“I loved my baby. That’s all I’m going to say,” she said.

“I can’t speak for what their strategy or rationale behind that would be. If we were to speculate it would probably be the preliminary hearing would allow for more evidence to come out or we would have been required to produce under Aniah’s hearing to avoid the repetition of having the facts come out over and over again in open court,” said Bibb County district attorney Robert Turner Jr.

Court records show that preliminary hearing is set for August 21. District attorney Turner says all three will be there.

Turner was asked whether additional arrests will be made before the end of the week and replied “possibly.”
