🎂HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY🎂

Sangre de Cristo Electric Assn., Inc. member Glenn Terrell and his mother, Barbara Armstrong, are celebrating her 90th Birthday at Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa in the San Luis Valley near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Sitting in the hot springs on the evening of October 10th, Barbara's birthday, they celebrated with a light show by the incredible Northern Lights!

Adventures of Sparky the Elf at San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative ✨

As Sparky's adventures come to a close, he makes a final stop at the San Luis Valley REC, where he meets a friend who's just his size! With the holiday spirit in the air and Christmas approaching, it's time for Sparky to return to the North Pole. Before he leaves, he shares a warm message: "Thank you to the co-ops, who give us bright light!" ❤️

Adventures of Sparky the Elf at Southeast Colorado Power Association ✨

With a playful wink and a cheerful nod, Sparky jumped into the truck, ready to lend a hand to the Southeast Colorado Power crews as they repaired a pole in La Junta. True to his fun-loving spirit, Sparky brought a bit of sass to his supervising role. Oh, that Sparky! ❤️

Our next co-op cookie recipe is from Mountain View Electric Association employee Nikki Ricciardi, who shares her traditional family Spikalaas cookie recipe. 🍪

"This is a recipe that was handed down to my mom, Eileen Ricciardi, by her Dutch grandmother… who learned the recipe from her grandmother. Spikalaas (also spelled "speculaas" depending on region) is a traditional Dutch cookie with a warm holiday spice flavor and a crisp texture that is great for dunking in coffee or hot chocolate.☕️

These cookies are a staple of the Christmas season in the Netherlands, Belgium, and parts of Germany. While this recipe calls for nuts, it is just as good without! An additional bonus is that both the dough and the baked cookies can be frozen without losing texture or flavor," Nikki shared.

Adventures of Sparky the Elf at Sangre de Cristo Electric Assn., Inc.🌟

Sparky made his way to the cozy little warehouse at Sangre de Cristo Electric in Buena Vista, where all the tools and supplies were neatly stacked. He eagerly zipped through the aisles, checking out everything from ladders to rolls of wire. He even climbed onto some of the heavy equipment. It was a busy day for Sparky!🎄
