Does anyone else do this?

This weekend we kicked off my birthday week with dinner and this delicious homemade lemon blueberry cake (thanks mom!)

Who else extends their b-day beyond the day (or week🎉)

2022 Me ➡️ 2023 Me…

Ok so there isn’t much of a difference (other than a few glasses of champagne).

We are now a few days into the New Year, the kids are back to school and the Christmas decor is boxed up (our house looks so naked)!

I can’t say I have a resolution, a word or even a goal for 2023. Which if you know me at all, isn’t like me.

I am taking a more minimalistic approach this year. My 2023 planned is seriously 1/4 of the size and over the month of December I’ve tossed more things around my house than my family knows.

Now that my home is somewhat organized, I have several home renovations on the docket for 2023.

So if you follow any great handy renovators, decorators, do it yourselfers- tag them below because I need ALL the inspiration!

Our summer recap (is it too late for this 🙃)👇🕶

Hi friends! It’s been awhile! I made the choice in early May to take a break from social to really soak up every drop of summer and put all of my professional attention to my position at .

But here we are, Labor Day- the last “official day of summer” and while my kiddos have been back to school for several weeks, this weekend truly feels like it’s time to swap out the cold brew for the PSL.

👋But before we officially bid farewell, I wanted to share a quick recap of our summer.

1. Isie kicked off her second summer at summer camp (and really lived her best life)

2. Jack wrapped up his first season of baseball with Dad as coach. (⚾️We think maybe next year Jack will roll solo on the field)

3. We spent lots of time perfecting our underwater handstands and caught as much pool time as possible.

4. We celebrated our sweet friends and .schuster as they tied the knot.

5. Fourth of July weekend never disappoints. The cousins always love celebrating Michael’s birthday 🎂 with fireworks 🎇!

6. We had an amazing family camping trip in which we rented and fell in love with our RV home away from home. ( )

7. Jack said goodbye to friends and teachers that have truly shaped him into the little dude he is today. 🥲

Summer movies, boating trips, Farris wheels and more made our summer one for the books.

Now we are off to grab one last splash in the pool (in between the 🌧 ) before we hang up our towels for season.

How are you spending your Labor Day?

Share it with me in the comments!

I have been keeping a secret... (well a couple...)

Mid December 2021 I was doing my annual review for Beauty House Marketing. I was in the green, had a full book of wonderful clients and had just launched a monthly membership.

Exactly one week later an opportunity popped up on my LinkedIn. Curious, I explored more and proceeded to roll the information around in my brain for days later.

After several discussions with my husband, family and friends I went for it and on January 3, 2022 I started a brand new career journey with F.C. Tucker Company, , as their Social Media Strategist.

The last 5 months have been so wonderful.

It did however bring on challenges as I navigated the new direction of Beauty House Marketing and my social media management clients and members.

It became a juggling act and I had to come to the realization and recognize just how precious my time is.

I took over a month off of social media in May and took time to reflect on my next move. With this reflection I decided to press the pause button with my business.

I am going to go back to the basics of when I started social media and serve + connect on IG vs working privately with clients at this time.

I will be popping on here and there sharing social media tidbits and the joys in my life. I am always here to help so please do not hesitate to shoot me a DM!

When life gets insanely busy- it’s so important to remember all the little things that make the craziness worth it all.

This idea was inspired by a post that did last month that I immediately loved.

What would be added to your April favorites? I know Ozarks and Grace and Frankie will definitely be making my May list! Anyone binging anything good?

I will keep preaching this…

You could have 100k followers and seriously have ZERO business.

It’s true, I have seen it happen.

We focus so much on the vanity metrics that we forget what we are here to do- Connect to a community of people that need what we have to offer (even if that means not right at this moment).

Social media is meant to be social. It is created to allow us to communicate with people that we may have never ever crossed paths with.

And if you think about it, that’s pretty amazing.

Instead of focusing on the amount of likes and followers you have, focus on this:

+ Always including a CTA (call to action) in your content

+ Showing up on social media as YOU (not your competitors, mentors)

+Be relatable- show people that you are a person who has/had similar struggles

+ When engaging, be genuine. Show a real interest in people (which means NOT selling right out the gate)

+ Use hashtags! They still work people and now with the development of Instagram SEO, I foresee their power getting even stronger!

Did this take a little pressure off? (Especially that constant urge to grow your follower count)

Things you 👍 should be doing on Instagram + Facebook and the things you should 🛑 stop!

Let’s dive right in shall we!?

👍Things you should be doing:

✅Posting consistently (whatever that means for you) Find the amount of posts that you can achieve weekly and commit. (Know 3 times a week is plenty!)

✅Engage with your audience- Genuinely and authentically.

✅Video - this is honestly the quickest way to really connect with your audience. And now we have so many options. Stories, Reel, Live- a variety of lengths. If you are just getting started I suggest reel or stories and build up to going Live with your audience.

✅Share the personal stuff too. Now this does NOT mean you have to be a complete open book and share all deep dark secrets. Share what you are comfortable with. (👉You can be personable and relatable without ever sharing a photo of your kids or sharing something that is a little too vulnerable for you.) Do what you feel comfortable with.

🛑It’s time to stop:

❌ Posting and ghosting- If you are only posting and never engaging or connecting with your audience then social media will never work for you. You HAVE to engage (for more than just algorithm aspects). These free marketing tools are based on being social, making connections and having interactions with people.

❌Posting video content on stories without captions- 85% of people are watching stories with their volume off. If you do not have the Caption sticker (first make sure your IG is updated) or simply give some basic context to what you are saying.

❌Copying content or someone else's “voice”- If you are brand new to social media or to your industry I am sure you are following peers or “experts” that you find helpful. Use them as a resource not as a template to copy.

❌Following people that make you feel: less than, overwhelmed, anxious, angry or just plain crummy. If you are following someone that makes you feel any of the above (regardless if they are helpful) - unfollow them. No one has time for that!

If this was helpful to you let me know if the comments and please share!

Did someone say high tops!? Funny story…

My entire wedding party (all 21 of us- including my husband and I) wore high top sneakers in my our wedding day.

Those pretty purple sneers still have a reserved spot in my closet and bust them out from time to time.

A few other things I’m loving right now:

1. Iced Americano with cold foam
2. Under eye patches
3. The new season of Summer House
4. Mint Lifesavers (the blue bag!)
5. Spring polishes

What about you? What are you loving right now??

I’ll cut right to the chase-

It’s all about branding baby. Don’t worry, I’m giving the 4 areas that are key on IG.

Creating a cohesive brand takes out the confusion for people.

It shows the viewer what you offer and also allows them to see your amazing personality.

Curious if your social media showcases your brand? Ask yourself this ⤵️

“When someone lands on my page (yay!) Do they know within SECONDS what I am all about?”

If the answer is just straight up “NO!” or if you’re a little confused if you even have a “brand” then allow me to help!

4 MUST HAVES to create YOUR IG BRAND:

💁🏼‍♀️BIO PIC
Instagram is all about the images. So be sure your profile photo is a good one!

If you are the face of your brand then this photo should be of YOU hands down.

Think about it- if you are scrolling are you more likely to stop for a beautiful photo of a person or a logo?

✏️CLEAR BIO STATEMENT
Do not leave people wondering what in the world you do! Give a very direct statement right off the bat. Tell us who you help, what you offer, and then throw in a few fun details.

📸 COHESIVE FEED
Instagram is a very visual platform. Make sure your feed is well balanced. Check out your top 9 photos right now and ask yourself if these photos showcase you and your product/service.

👍KILLER CONTENT
Your content should show off your personality first and foremost. There could be a million and one others out there marketing the exact thing that you are BUT- there is only one YOU! And that is what will make you stand out.

Taking the time to ensure that you implement each of these items is SO important to market yourself successfully using Instagram.

If you this post has you like 🤪 “I need help with all of the above!✋”

Head to my DMs and let’s chat about it!

In the meantime, which one of these 4 catch your eye the most when you're scrolling along?

But really… WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO DIFFICULT!? Or better yet make you feel like now they are judging you based on untrue things.
🙄

If I had a dollar for every time someone said one of these things. 🥴 ⤵️

⚠️ I need more followers to really grow my business on social media.
⚠️ If I had more followers, I would in turn make more money.
⚠️ The only metric I really care about is my follower count.

These myths could not be further from the truth!

A Large Following 🚫 Success

Building a large social media following should not be your only measure of success or for that matter even be your primary metric of growth.

Social media should also be used for customer/client engagement.

This means not only getting followers to interact with your posts but also getting them to message you or click on links to learn more about your product/services.

Social media, by definition, should be social so plan to get in that engagement in order to really move the needle.

👉Side note: I have had roughly the same amount of followers now for MONTHS! Yep, MONTHS and guess what- I am totally fine with that. My primary goal has been to nurture my current audience (which has been more successful for me!)

Drop a 🙌 if this helped you breathe a big sigh of relief.

Ready to map out your content for the entire month!? This way⬇️

This is honestly one of my favorite things to do (& one main reason I created a monthly membership to help with this!)

I grab my pencil and a printed monthly calendar and I get to work.

📝Now you may not be a pen and paper girl like me and that’s cool- do what works for you. My ladies inside the membership enjoy the digital calendar that is offered.

Regardless- here are a few things for you to keep in mind to make the content planning process simple (and effective!)

1️⃣Think about your 1 main goal for the month.

Increase product sales, introduce a new service, market a specific package- pick 1 main marketing goal to focus on for the entire month.

2️⃣Balance out your month with content that: entertains, inspires, informs, and educates your ideal client

NOTE: Refer back to your goal for the month. If your goal is to increase sales or get more clients then create more content that informs and educates your clients. If your goal is to grow your audience then create more content that allows them to know and trust you.

3️⃣Make note of images, video, Reels needed for your content.

This helps you to plan ahead as well as give your feed an aesthetic balance.

🙌Team
▶️What Reels do you need to record?
▶️Images do you need to take?
▶️Graphics that need to be created?

4️⃣Sprinkle in fun, relatable, entertaining content.

This should always be a part of your content strategy. Consider National Days that make sense with your industry, ideal client, and your brand/personality or special events or holidays that are happening throughout the month.

Ready to get your plan on?

If you struggle to show up consistently on social media or constantly feel like you are stuck on what to post- my monthly membership can be the lifesaver you need in your business.

March content calendar, caption prompts and graphic templates are officially up and ready!

Head to the link in my bio to join and get instant access to everything!
