PearTree Designs is Teresa Pereira's freelance graphic design and visual arts business, based in Westchester, NY.

I’m an Art Teacher, a freelance Graphic Designer, and—most recently—a small business owner, selling hand painted jewelry. I also continue to paint—both on canvas and as a muralist. I've had paintings shown in galleries and art fairs in Westchester County. Mural clients include Yonkers Public Library, who commissioned murals for all three of its branches.

Another first in over 20 years: doing some live studio figure drawing — this past Thursday.

Last week was such a hectic one and it was nice to take a break and just draw.

These are sketches of 1, 2, 5, and a 10-minute poses of the lovely model, in graphite and in oils pastels. I had to leave early so was not able to do the longer poses.

My take away: my live drawing skills have gotten a little rusty, so I’ll be going back again and again to these monthly sessions to grease them up again. ✍🏽💪🏽✏️

Just a few pics from my first art festival in over 20 years. Didn’t have time fur more! Sold some stuff, met some cool people, and w joyed the sunshine…but it was a lot of work and I sure am exhausted. lol

A big thanks to Sofia, Reena, and Lisa for helping. Looking forward to a couple of days of rest before school starts!

The location is a pretty one, and the weather will be perfect, so I’m looking forward to showing my stuff at The Hudson River Arts and Crafts Festival. Look for me at spot number 19!

Every few years this post from this day 16 years ago pops up as a FB memory. It popped up again today.

This is the only photo I have of this mural, which I was commissioned to paint at The Big Easy, a bar that used to live on the upper east side of NYC. I took the pic on the second day of the job, right after a cop and engineer walked in (while I was on the ladder) and instructed everyone to leave: the building was being inspected for structural soundness.

The issues were supposed to be resolved after a few days and I was supposed to finish, but ultimately the building was condemned and the bar closed down.

Swipe to see the mockup that landed me the job. The huge Southern Comfort bottle was included because SoCo was supposed to foot the bill, but would you believe it? I never got paid for my nearly 2 days of work. 😡

This was the second mural I painted here. You can see the first one (which I got flood for!) at the right. Swipe to see a better pic.

This makes for some story but I would have loved to have finished—and gotten paid—for this mural. It was one of the most dynamic I’ve designed.

I hope you’re feline fine on this International Cat Day! I think this is the purrfect post in honor of this day: it’s a triptych I created in colored pencil and watercolor last year. It’s called ‘Kitten Crimes,” and it’s framed with a lovely vintage 26” x 12”wood frame I thrifted a couple of years ago. I’m not kitten, it was sooooo much fun to make this! 😹🐈🖼️
