Exciting Announcement! 😆🙌🏼
All glory to God!
I was invited to be a Speaker at the 2025 Michigan Preparedness Expo which will be in Flint, Michigan Aug 2nd! Such a humbling honor. I will be speaking on preparing for personal emergencies. It is good to prepare for local, state and national emergencies but more likely than not your preps are going to be needed for personal tragedies and catastrophes. How do we prepare our homes, our pantries, and our mindset for those personal events? ❤️🩹
Heather Hurd is a wife, homeschooling mother of six, and a devoted homesteader who shares her journey through her popular YouTube channel, The Kneady Homesteader. Born and raised in the city of Detroit, Heather spent the first 21 years of her life as a city girl before embracing rural life, where she and her family now steward a three-acre homestead.
As a widow who has walked the road of grief and found joy in remarriage, Heather’s story is one of perseverance, faith, and transformation. Together with her family, she raises a large flock of chickens and operates a small family-run egg business as part of her children’s homeschool entrepreneurship. Her homestead is a living classroom where her children learn not only academics but also life skills rooted in hard work, stewardship, and faith.
Heather is passionate about food preservation—including gardening, canning, dehydrating, and maintaining a well-stocked pantry capable of sustaining her family for a year in the event of personal or geographical emergencies. Her mission is to encourage others to embrace self-sufficiency, stewardship, and preparedness while living intentionally for the glory of God.
With nearly two decades of experience on YouTube since 2007, Heather has cultivated a community of thousands who look to her for practical advice, inspiration, and encouragement in the areas of homesteading, preparedness, faith, and family.
