What's taller than a six-story building and headed to Put-in-Bay? The world's largest yellow rubber duck, of course, which will be on the island Aug. 1-3 for photo opps and fun.

Our Lake Erie Living Photo of the Week taken by Gabe Leidy Photography celebrates one of summer's quirkiest joys — fireflies. It was captured on the Oak Hill Trailhead at Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

🌟 "The key to firefly photography is placing the camera somewhere you think they’ll be active and hoping that a few bugs pass by at close range," Leidy says. "Easier said than done. It seems like everywhere you are, they’re not!"

🌟 Finally, Leidy got a bit of luck when a "particularly ambitious firefly passed right in front of the lens," adding the perfect touch to a scene already filled with thousands of tiny flashes.

🌟 Leidy said he used 67 30-second exposures stacked in Photoshop to allow the lightest details of each scene to shine through.

The first time Patrick Forrester saw a kayak with a sail attached, he laughed.

⛵ “That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve seen. It’s just so stupid, you can’t sail a kayak. It’s not possible,” Forrester, a lifelong sailor, remembers thinking. “And then, on a whim, I bought one after two years of watching them, and then I was like, this is so much fun!”

⛵ While he grew to love kayak sailing, he found the sail’s design to be clunky and flawed. So, he set out to make a better one for himself.

⛵ His passion turned into a hobby, then morphed into a full-fledged business when he opened in 2010 in Perrysburg, Ohio. It’s one of only a handful of businesses in the world that crafts custom sails for kayaks.
