Kunisada (Hideki Takahashi) suggests to Shindo (Hiroshi Abe) that he should end his career as an anchor when he finds out that a scandal involving will appear in a weekly tabloid.
Meanwhile, Shindo believes that Kazuo (Gaku Yamamoto), Yamai’s (Takuma Otoo) father, was targeted deliberately and visits Yamai’s home with him to look for evidence. They find something in Kazuo’s personal belongings that indicates a connection to Shindo’s father, Tetsu (Makiya Yamaguchi), as well as an entry in his notebook that is of interest…
With his professional life on the line, Shindo tries to uncover the truth of what happened 43 years ago. A major incident occurs that shocks “Newsgate.”

A large wildfire breaks out in Ashine Village, where nuclear facilities are concentrated. Ashine Village is where Yamai (Takuma Otoo) is from. As Yamai joins the live crew, his father Kazuo (Gaku Yamamoto), who suffers from dementia, goes missing near the site of the fire. Shindo (Hiroshi Abe), who arrived at the site before others, runs into Ozaki (Ayumu Tanida). Through Ozaki, he asks Shinichi (Haruka Uchimura), the son of former Chief Cabinet Secretary Hanyu (Kinya Kitaoji), for cooperation in disaster management.

Meanwhile, Hana (Mei Nagano) notices that Shindo is familiar with Ashiya Village and doing something alone…

Shindo (Hiroshi Abe) waits for Mayumi (Ann Nakamura) to arrive at the hospital. There he meets Fukazawa (Shinya Niiro), the representative of Himawari Net, for the first time in 18 years.
Meanwhile, Hana (Mei Nagano), who is suspicious of Shindo and Fukazawa’s relationship, investigates on her own and finds an important clue. Hana’s father (Takashi Yamanaka) who has been missing for many years suddenly shows up.

To uncover the truth, Hana and Motohashi (Shunsuke Michieda) visits Himawari Net Medical Support Center where Mayumi is using. The organization turns out to be the same one Shindo (Hiroshi Abe) has been pursuing…

A police raid on a sports bar in Ginza leads to the arrest of staff and customers on suspicion of gambling. JBN is in an uproar when they learn that volleyball ace player Nawa (Takayuki Suzuki) and announcer Koike (Kanato Tsukishiro), who were there are also taken in for questioning. On top of that, E-Stream, Inc. learns of the commotion and announces they will pull their sponsorship of the international volleyball championship. With E-Stream pulling sponsorship, the future of the international championship — and JBN’s budget — hangs in the balance.
