It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Brenda H. Lathan, former Senior Vice President of the Golden Triangle Development LINK.

Brenda dedicated much of her career to advancing economic development and community growth throughout the Golden Triangle region. During her tenure at the LINK, she was instrumental in supporting major industrial recruitment and expansion projects, fostering strong relationships with local and state partners, and promoting the region as a competitive destination for business and investment. Her leadership, strategic insight, and tireless advocacy helped shape initiatives that continue to benefit our communities today.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Brenda was widely respected for her integrity, mentorship, and genuine commitment to the people and places she served. Her influence extended well beyond her title, leaving a lasting legacy across the region’s economic development landscape.

We extend our deepest condolences to Brenda’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. She will be remembered with great respect and gratitude for her service and contributions to the Golden Triangle.

Governor Tate Reeves has announced the awarding of $5.7 million for a 1-million-gallon elevated water storage tank and water main infrastructure at the Cinco Mega Site in Lowndes County.

This investment strengthens site readiness and further positions the Golden Triangle for future industrial growth.

SDI and the Port Authority are moving forward with a $14 million rail line project connecting the West Bank Port to SDI’s steel mill — strengthening infrastructure and industry in the Golden Triangle.

Steel Dynamics Inc. is building a more than $14 million rail line to deliver scrap metal from the West Bank Port on Old Macon Road to the company’s steel mill west of Columbus.
