Freezing rain update!

Icy conditions will develop this morning across West Michigan, especially north and east of Grand Rapids. Air and road temperatures will be at or below freezing north of I-96, which will allow for freezing rain to cause icy roads. Temperatures look to be just warm enough to have most of the precipitation fall as normal rain south of a Holland to Battle Creek line. A good majority of West Michigan will see at least a glaze of ice, but the higher impacts with ice up to 0.20" will be north of I-96. I will have all the details on WZZM beginning at 5a!

The next shot for widespread precipitation over the state arrives late Thursday into Friday. Precipitation will start early Friday morning as Freezing Rain, before changing over to rain during the day Friday from southwest to northeast. It's too early to talk about specific ice amounts, but potentially more than one-tenth of an inch may accumulate in some areas. Significant travel impacts are expected, especially Friday morning!

My little Ada Renee is 6 months old today. ☺️💕 Always full of smiles, rolling over, and obsessed with her toes. Truly the happiest little girl. We love you so much, sweet potato.

Our weather is headed for a roller-coaster ride from tomorrow into Friday. Temperatures will climb into the mid-40s tomorrow afternoon with rain. Overnight, strong winds will shift from the south to the west-northwest, causing temperatures to drop back into the 20s. Any leftover water on roads could refreeze, leading to icy conditions for the Friday morning commute.

We’ll also see lake-enhanced snow behind the system, with 1 to 4 inches possible, which could further contribute to slick travel. 13 On Your Side
