Lately I’ve been running little “experiments” on myself

Skipping the things I used to feel like I needed to feel confident

Just to see… how it actually feels without them

Things like—
doing a pedicure before sandals
wearing makeup before running errands
applying self-tanner before summer clothes
blow drying my hair before leaving the house

(all of my “rules”)

And honestly?

The results have been surprising

Because every single time I’ve felt—
okay 😊

Not exactly like a glowing-goddess-diva-queen (lol)
But not like a frumpy disaster either

Just... comfortable

And it’s wild that it’s taken:
health challenges
perimenopause
and being almost 47 😳

To finally feel content showing up as I am

Didn’t see that one coming
But I’ll take it

A win is a win 🤍

I’ve been captivated by beauty for as long as I can remember—

From meticulously recreating the looks in my Seventeen magazine, to mixing up homemade beauty “concoctions” in the kitchen before DIY skincare was a thing—it’s just who I’ve alwayyyys been 😊

And it was never solely about “looking pretty” or putting on makeup to me. It was always so much more.

It was creativity. Artistry. Self-expression. Transformation.

And then it became my career 🎨🎥

20+ years in the beauty industry.
Hundreds of faces.
Every product, every trend, everyyyy “must-have.”

And now—

I’m coming back to beauty again.

But in a completely different way.

Not as a makeup artist.
Not selling products.

Something that feels way more aligned with what women actually need, now.

Especially for those of us over 40 🙋🏼‍♀️

I’m building something… and I can’t wait to share it with you 💕

(Hey, it wasn’t the first time and it certainly won’t be the last. At this point in my life I almost expect it. 🤣 Shoot I’m just happy that the name Sara isn’t as popular as it was growing up, and as a result, I don’t have to go by “Sara D” in every setting 🙃)

WTAF did I just witness?

The level bullying and narcissism and victim blaming I just experienced is abhorrent. LITERALLY REPULSIVE. I couldn’t even finish watching.

I am so upset I’m in tears and feel like throwing up

And if that wasn’t horrifying enough, to see him then have the audacity to make a post saying that Zelenskyy is “not ready for peace”

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

It’s like blaming a grape victim for not being ready for peace with their perpetrator. WHO DOES THAT?

Oh our president. That’s who 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve been unfollowing people who support this regime for months and months, and I’ll continue to.

But that doesn’t change the fact that no matter how hard I try to make sense of where they’re coming from (and as a former conservative with tons of conservatives in my network/extended family, believe you me, I try)—

I still find it ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to wrap my mind around how ANYONE with a moral compass can support or defend THIS kind of behavior

Well anyone I want to associate with that is 😂

And quite frankly, if that’s you, I see you. I know who you are. I’m observant 🙂

I will say this. I don’t hate you. I don’t wish you any ill will. But we are NOT each other’s people. Anyone who’s ok with this IS NOT OK WITH ME

And sure, me boldly standing up like this might hurt my businesses and cause me lose tons of followers.

But if I don’t have the integrity and courage to stand up against what I believe is WRONG what do I even have?

PS: Feel free to mock/argue with me/declare your contrary opinion below. I mean, we both know you will. That’s always bound to happen on this interesting hub. And tbh I appreciate it, because it shows me who to remove from my space. (Block finger locked and loaded 😊)

But per usual, I won’t take the time or energy to engage you. Actually, I won’t even read all of your comment. 😂 Not interested.

I have plenty of dialogues with those who hold contrary opinions IRL. If you’re a part of my inner circle, that’s something I always welcome.

Who else is a bad advice-taker? 🤚🏼

I’ll admit it, sometimes I’m the ABSOLUTE worst 🤣

For example, some of the best advice given to me by other successful entrepreneurs is to outsource the things I do not like and am not great at.

Aka: my weaknesses

But I’ve alwayyyyyyys resisted this advice. Probably the same way you have 😉

I think one of the most powerful fundamentals that sits at the epicenter of entrepreneurship is that “I can do it myself” mentality. Because we DID do so much of it ourselves. (Insert snap and “I’m a badass” strut down the invisible catwalk) 🫰🏼💃🏼

And likewise, when it comes to the accessibility of social media — where literally ANYONE can create content and post it, from anywhere, regardless of their level of expertise, there is absolutely an “I can do this myself” mentality. Because it doesn’t require any level of expertise to hit the “share” button.

You CAN do it yourself!!

But doing so in a way that is intentional and effective for the growth and identity of your brand? Well now that not only requires expertise, but at a very base level, it requires desire.

And the truth is: most people don’t desire having to deal with social media. Forget mastering it, they simply hate the fact that they even have to deal with it AT ALL. (I can hear the collective “amen” 😂)

Which — makes it an obstacle and a weakness.

So the best advice I can give any entrepreneur who falls in that category, is to outsource that weakness! And no, that’s not code for: hire me! (I mean I wouldn’t turn you away 😂)

But rather, a nudge to consider the amount of glorious energy (and time) outsourcing this will afford you to put into the tasks you actually ENJOY!!

I never understood why Pride Month was a thing. In fact, it bothered me that everyone made such a big deal about it.

I didn’t get it.

But I do now.

I went to my first Pride event! And even though it was a lot of booths giving away sunscreen and magnets and dog toys…

It was ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL to me 💫

I picked up these buttons. I love them. The safe space one is my FAVE

Annnnd, I’ll be going to as many Pride things as I can this month. Rocking my colorful “free mom hugs” tee and alllllll the rainbowy, glittery, sparkly goodness I can 🌈✨ (and making a very 👏🏼 BIG 👏🏼 DEAL👏🏼 about it!)

If you want to go to an event, but don’t know where to start, you’re in luck. In true Sara form (I research things for hours 🤓🤣) I did allllll the research for you. I’ll share some info below 👇🏼
