Taking battery-free computing to new heights ✈️

Although UAVs have many functions, their reliance on batteries also causes many limitations, including shorter and more expensive flights, as well as detrimental environmental effects. Research from GT's schools of Interactive Computing and Computer Science (College of Computing at Georgia Tech) showcases how UAVs can become more widespread: solar power. ☀️

That's exactly what Metzev is doing. Their software, Amptrail, provides EV recyclers and OEMS with information on delivery schedules, live maps of shipment locations, and a central place to manage and communicate directly with suppliers.

🖍️ What started as campus sketches became a book and a way to reconnect with creativity.

Shamim Shoomali joined Georgia Tech’s Digital Media PhD program to merge storytelling, design, and tech. Along the way, she rediscovered her sketchbook and drew the quiet, in-between moments of student life.

The result is "Between Classes," a hand-illustrated look at life on campus through the eyes of a researcher and artist.

🚀 CREATE-X, Georgia Tech's flagship entrepreneurship program, has officially moved into its new home at the Biltmore Innovation Center in Tech Square.

As the Biltmore's newest tenant, CREATE-X is positioned to accelerate student innovation and entrepreneurship in Atlanta’s startup ecosystem. With over 650 student-founded startups and a valuation of $2.4B, this move marks a key milestone in Georgia Tech's mission to drive impactful ventures.

“This milestone underscores Georgia Tech’s commitment to expanding entrepreneurship programs that drive innovation across some of the most critical frontiers of our time," says Rahul Saxena, Director of CREATE-X.

The new space will serve as a hub and CREATE-X's first permanent physical location for collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on learning, placing student entrepreneurs at the heart of innovation.
