On Saturday we were joined by and .mae at the inaugural Over Here Zine Fest at 🖨️🌿📝 “thoughts and printers” was a community dialogue through outdated tech, natural objects and original artwork by all ages participants. Cheri’s workshops lead poets through topics on identity as original writings were created and shared out. As the day unfolded, a tapestry of our current community was revealed across the white walls of the pavillion.

Identity

Calling all poets, non-poets and anyone with a pen: come with your notes app or your journal for two poetry workshops which dive into prompts surrounding identity in relation to place and our collective experience being from the Inland Empire, and into identity in relation to self, drawing material from a more personal, individual level.

Cheri Mae Jocson is a first-generation Filipina-American poet and artist born in the Inland Empire and based in Los Angeles. Her work reflects on bridging fissures in connection in a
social media age and the disorientation of diaspora and displacement. Cheri Mae has published two books through Curious Publishing, “I Have A Confession-“
(2021) and “All Out of Confessions”
(2023), both a collection of scanned journal entries, poems, and film photography. Cheri Mae Jocson is the

Over Here Zine Fest presents: “thoughts & printers”, 🖨️ a community zine-making project using outdated technology, organic materials, and art-making techniques, created and hosted by 🌿 All-day at this Saturday from 11 AM - 7:30 PM.

thoughts & printers is a thought exchange using a combination of outdated printing technology, organic matter, and hand coloring with markers and pens.
Creating unique, unexpected expressions of printed matter in hopes of evoking a feeling or a connection. The end result will be a special compilation zine, created by the users.

Willis Garcia Salomon is an IE based visual artist and photographer with a background in art direction and installation art. Currently focusing on his art practice; connecting nostalgic ideas through a mix of analog and digital means, by way of florals, food, and subculture references. He also is a strong advocate for the arts and artists in the Inland Empire and hopes to continue helping in community building, through the arts, through his work.

Our Ethos

Curious Publishing was created to showcase artists, poets, musicians, photographers, foodies, and the overall budding creative community in California. In addition to providing publishing services to artists, writers, and creators throughout Southern California, each quarter, Curious Publishing develops a new issue of Curious Magazine which revolves around a central theme, and features up to 15 up and coming artists who reside in Southern California. This professionally designed publication provides a platform for artists to showcase their work, as well as an opportunity to showcase their work publicly and sell their work at the quarterly release events. Each release event raises over funds which goes directly toward Curious Publishing’s mission.
