TOGOD2027JESUS

According to the New Testament, Jesus’ relationship with the Father did not end with His resurrection and ascension. Christians believe that Jesus still loves, honors, and glorifies the Father today.

Here are several biblical themes that describe how Jesus relates to the Father now:

He continues to love the Father. Jesus’ love for the Father is eternal and unchanging (John 14:31).
He is seated at the Father’s right hand. After His ascension, Jesus was exalted to the place of highest honor beside the Father (Hebrews 1:3; Mark 16:19), reflecting their ongoing fellowship.
He intercedes for believers before the Father. Jesus serves as our advocate and high priest, praying on behalf of those who belong to Him (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).
He glorifies the Father. Jesus continues to carry out the Father’s redemptive purposes and reigns with the authority the Father has given Him (Philippians 2:9–11; 1 Corinthians 15:24–28).
He shares perfect unity with the Father. Jesus said, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30), expressing an eternal unity of essence and purpose. Christians understand this unity to continue forever.
In Christian theology, Jesus’ feelings toward the Father today are not viewed as having changed. He continues to experience:

Perfect love
Perfect fellowship
Perfect joy
Perfect obedience in accomplishing the Father’s will
Perfect honor and glory
This is beautifully reflected in Jesus’ prayer in John 17, where He speaks of the glory and love He shared with the Father “before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24). Christians believe that this eternal relationship continues without interruption.

In short, the Bible presents Jesus today as delighting in the Father, reigning with Him, and continually working to accomplish the Father’s purposes while interceding for His people.

Jesus consistently speaks of God the Father with profound love, honor, trust, and obedience. The Gospels reveal a deeply personal relationship between the Son and the Father. Here are some of the ways Jesus expresses how He feels about His Father:

1. Jesus loves the Father.
Jesus openly declares His love for the Father:

“But I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father.”
— John 14:31 (ESV)

His obedience is an expression of His love.

2. Jesus trusts the Father completely.
Even in His suffering, Jesus entrusted Himself to the Father’s will.

“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
— Luke 22:42

And at His death:

“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!”
— Luke 23:46

3. Jesus delights in the Father’s will.
Jesus found joy in doing what pleased the Father.

“My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.”
— John 4:34

“I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
— John 8:29

4. Jesus honors and glorifies the Father.
Everything Jesus did pointed people to the Father.

“I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.”
— John 17:4

5. Jesus enjoys perfect fellowship with the Father.
Jesus spoke of a unique intimacy with His Father.

“The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.”
— John 3:35

“I and the Father are one.”
— John 10:30

This unity refers to their perfect harmony and shared divine nature.

6. Jesus longs for believers to know the Father’s love.
In His prayer before His crucifixion, Jesus asked that His followers would experience the same love the Father has shown Him.

“I made known to them your name… that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
— John 17:26

A summary

Jesus’ relationship with the Father is marked by:

Perfect love
Complete trust
Joyful obedience
Absolute honor
Constant fellowship
Mutual glorification
The Father’s love for the Son is equally clear:

“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
— Matthew 3:17

On The Omnipresence of God
"Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord." Jer. 23:24.
4. Just equivalent to this is the expression of the Apostle: (Eph. 1:23, not, as some have strangely supposed, concerning the Church, but concerning the Head of it:) "The fullness of him that filleth all in~ all;"~ _ta panta en pasin_, ~~~~literally translated, +all things in all things;" -- the strongest expression of universality which can possibly be conceived. It necessarily includes the last and the~ greatest of all things that exist. So that if any expression could be stronger, it would be stronger than even that -- the "filling hea~ven and earth."
