I am going to make this a "Throwback Tuesday" pic today. The fantastic Miss Donna Fargo was honored in New York City to receive an award from the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I know this is a little earlier than when it actually happened 30 years ago, but I am going in for some major back surgery today and wanted to make sure I made the post. In addition to our Miss Fargo, Tom Seaver, Julius Erving & Walter Payton were also on hand at the 16th annual Muscular Dystrophy Dinner of Champions at New York City's Marriott Marquis Hotel. April 26, 1988.

This is one of my favorite photos of me with the incomparable Lorrie Morgan. It was taken last summer before a show in Richmond, VA. Lorrie will be appearing in Pennsylvania at Penns Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA on March 24th. Country Pulse will be there to cover it. Be on the lookout for a fantastic interview with this talented lady coming in the next week. Check out Lorrie's website to get information on tickets for this show, as well as her other performances across the country and lowdown on all things Lorrie! www.lorrie.com (Photo by Kai Griffin)

UPDATE ON DONNA FARGO
As most of you know, my relationship with Donna Fargo stems all the way back to 1972. I met her the first time as an anxious little 6 year old boy with my Mom. Over the years, most of you know that my Mom traveled all over the country photographing Donna...they became the best of friends. I must say that the highlight of my life was when I became her photographer, shooting photos for her publicity, CD covers and audio books. I am blessed to be her historian, and her friendship is a vital part of my life.

Donna's husband issued the following statement on her condition following a stroke on December 4.

Many of you have been asking for an update on how Donna is doing, so here goes….

Donna has been working diligently on her recovery process with the rehab therapists 3-5 days a week. She is thankfully showing signs of improvement in her walking and speech, although she is not where she wants to be yet. Her handwriting and coordination still have a ways to go, and her level of numbness is a degree to which she’s really having problems adjusting to, but we are praying that these conditions will change for the better, given more therapy and some time.

Unfortunately, she recently took a hard fall, which is adding to her misery. We were back at the emergency room and while the tests showed no bleeding in the brain, and for that we’re very thankful, concussions can cause headaches, which she’s had constantly since the fall, along with blurred vision. On the weekends, it’s basically bed rest because of the fatigue factor. In the meantime, she will continue working with the great therapists for whom we’re so grateful.

Donna is trying to stay encouraged and work as hard as she can, and your notes, cards, and prayers mean a lot to her. She sends her best wishes and hopes you’re all doing well. Thank you again for your kindness. We both sincerely appreciate your concern and thoughtfulness.

COUNTRY MUSIC MOURNS THE LOSS OF DARYL SINGELTARY

Daryl Singletary died unexpectedly on Feb. 12, leaving behind a wife, Holly, and four children; Mercer, Jonah, Charlotte and Norah. The singer, best known for a run of '90s hits including "I Let Her Lie" and "Too Much Fun," was just 46 years old, and reportedly working hard to play small shows to feed his family toward the end of his life. A new crowdfunding campaign via YouCaring.com aims to raise $100,000 for Singletary's funeral and other expenses.
A representative for Singletary has confirmed the veracity of the campaign, which will run the money through Franklin Synergy Bank. Those who wish to help can donate by either visiting the campaign's page or by mailing a check. Make checks out to The Daryle Singletary Foundation Keepin’ It Country and mail them to the following address:

On Feb. 14, Platinum Records Nashville released a new song, "She's Been Cheatin' on Us," online, representing it as some of Singletary's final recorded work and saying the proceeds would go to his family for expenses. In an email to Taste of Country on Feb. 15, Singletary's business partner of 21 years, Chuck Rhodes, clarified that the song was a demo Singletary had sung under a work for hire agreement, and nobody in Singletary's family or any of his business associates had sanctioned its release. He said that a fund did not yet exist, and a cease and desist letter had been issued to Platinum Records head Greg Hudik demanding the unsanctioned new music be removed.

A Google search reveals a GoFundMe campaign Hudik started that has since been removed. The YouCaring campaign is the only one verified by Singletary's associates.

Funeral plans for Daryle Singletary have not yet been announced.

After Singletary's sudden passing, a number of artists including Luke Combs, Walker McGuire, Travis Tritt and Charlie Daniels turned to social media to share their thoughts and tributes.

LORRIE MORGAN AND PAM TILLIS HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!

EDITORS NOTE: Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis have managed to do it again with the release of their CD "Come See Me and Come Lonely." Their first CD, "Dos Divas," spurned the pairing of the Grits & Glamour" gals to the delight of their fans. I was so impressed with that compilation, I thought how can they top this??? Well trust me, they have. I have to tell you that this is an amazing CD! With the pairing of these two amazing voices, there is no way you can compare to the best harmonies around. Being a fan of both these ladies, watching their live performances together, and meeting and knowing these lovely ladies, I can attest that this is at the top of my playing list. Their version of "Tennessee Waltz" is haunting... the intro is and arrangement is different than any other version I have heard. One of my favorite songs of all time is Billie Jo Spears' "Blanket On The Ground." Again, these two do not disappoint with this fantastic cover. Other favorites include "Walk Right Back," "Guitars and Cadillacs" and a spectacular cover of Sammie Smith's, "Saunders Ferry Lane." Ok you all, go to Amazon.com and order your copy today. You will not regret it!

DOLLY PARTON TO DONATE 1 MILLIONTH BOOK TO LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

Dolly's visit to the Library of Congress on Tuesday, February 27, will include a book reading with local students in Washington D.C.
Dolly Parton will deliver the book herself to the Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden next week.
The Imagination Library began in Sevier County in 1995, and delivers free books to children each month from the time they're born until they begin school.
Parton has said her inspiration for starting the Imagination Library was her father's inability to read and write.
“When I was growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true. I know there are children in your community with their own dreams. They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister. Who knows, maybe there is a little girl whose dream is to be a writer and singer," Parton says on the Imagination Library website. "The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.”
Dolly's visit to the Library of Congress on Tuesday, February 27, will include a book reading with local students in Washington D.C.
According to the Library of Congress, the event will also include a "special announcement from Parton and Hayden on a newly formed children's literacy program."
Imagination Library has grown exponentially since its founding in 1995 to the point where, as of 2016, the program mails over 1 million books each month to children in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

Hello Everyone! I have sent out a huge invitation list to lots of new friends I have made on my regular Doug Smith page. Country Pulse is coming back! We stopped publication after I lost my mom in July on 2015. We have a new website www.countrypulse.net (which is still under construction) and a great new premier issue featuring the amazing Lorrie Morgan! So please like the page, and encourage your friends to like the page as well. It looks good to all the Nashville folks when a page has lots of likes.... so I am asking you guys to like us....please. The magazine did amazing and had an average of 50,000 views per month per magazine. We have had as high as over 100,000 on the last issue with Dolly on the cover (which is the cover featured at the the top left of the page). I appreciate all of your continued support. This magazine is dedicated to the artists and fans of true country music. I interview stars from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90;s and now. It is written by the fans for the fans. I truly believe it is the most unique magazine out there. Everybody can read it, write for it and contribute to it. I would like to thank all of my artist friends who have shown support to my dream. If anyone has stories they would like to share of their favorite country stars, or concert reviews... I take them all... Lets make this the best magazine out there.
