When Frances was a one-pound puppy, I thought caring for her would be just like caring for any other dog, only smaller.

I quickly learned that tiny dogs have their own unique needs.
They can be more vulnerable to injuries, blood sugar dips, dental issues, temperature changes, and everyday situations that larger dogs navigate without a second thought.

But here’s what I’ve learned over the last year and a half:
Tiny dogs are incredibly capable.

They can travel, explore, make friends, learn new things, and live big, beautiful lives. They just need thoughtful humans who understand how to support them.

Every day, Frances reminds me that being small doesn’t mean taking up less space in the world.

Sometimes the tiniest dogs leave the biggest paw prints. 🤎

A lot of people know Frances, but not everyone knows our story.

Not too long ago, I was navigating a season of change when this tiny one-pound poodle came into my life. I had no idea then just how much joy she would bring or how much she would change my world.

What I thought would be me taking care of her quickly became us taking care of each other.

She brought joy to ordinary days. She got me outside more often. She made me laugh when I needed it most. And before long, she became my constant companion on every adventure.

When Frances was little, I realized how much I didn’t know about caring for such a tiny dog. I worried about everything. Was she eating enough? Was she safe walking NYC streets? Was she warm enough?

As an educator, my response was to learn. I read, researched, asked questions, and made plenty of mistakes along the way. Every lesson taught me something new about what makes tiny dogs so unique.

What started as a way to share photos of a dog I adore slowly became something a little more.

This account has introduced us to incredible people, wonderful friends, and a community that continues to inspire me.

It also led me to create The Tiny Dog Guide, a resource built from everything I’ve learned and continue to learn as Frances grows.

And this spring, I launched Tiny Dog Club because I wanted a place where tiny dog parents could learn, share, and celebrate these special little dogs together.

At the heart of all of it is still the same thing:
A tiny dog and the human who loves her.

Thank you for following along, supporting us, and being part of our story. We are so grateful you’re here.
