🇯🇵 WIP Wednesday! Giving new life to this broken vintage Haeger egg planter using the Japanese art called Kintsugi, where the cracks and repairs are highlighted with gold, silver, etc. I’m using gold paint instead of lacquer and gold leaf. The idea behind Kintsugi is to embrace and accept flaws, highlighting them as events in the life of an object instead of tossing it due to damage/breakage. The longer explanation of the philosophy is really interesting and I encourage you to look it up!
🐈‍⬛ Fiona broke it last spring and it took me a while to decide what to do with the pieces. At first I wasn’t sure how it would look with gold on all the cracks, but now I’m excited to see it finished and know just the plant to put in it! P.S. This vintage Pyrex Spice of Life cutting board sucks as a cutting board but is the perfect size and texture for a work surface for art etc. 😎
