Cancellation of Junior High Football Games

Dear Uvalde CISD and Crystal City School Community,

We regret to inform you that the football games scheduled between Morales Junior High and Sterling H. Fly Junior High on Thursday, September 18th, have been canceled. This decision comes in light of recent inappropriate social media posts involving junior high-aged students.

The superintendents of Crystal City and Uvalde CISD have collectively agreed to take this opportunity to educate students about positive sportsmanship. However, in the spirit of camaraderie, the high school football games will still proceed as planned.

Please be aware that tickets purchased for the event are non-refundable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the well-being of our students, staff, and school community.

Thank you for your continued support and vigilance.

In partnership,
Ashley Chohlis Dina Briones
Uvalde CISD Superintendent Crystal City Superintendent

September 11th, 2001

Today, and every day we remember the events of 9/11.

We remember the parents who unknowingly put their kids on the bus and went into work for the final time.

We remember the innocent people who boarded a plane not knowing they would never come home.

We remember the firefighters who marched up countless flights of stairs knowing they would never come back down.

We remember the days and months that followed where we were all unified as ONE nation, under God.

We remember the soldiers who would go on to pay the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that ensued.

We remember those who battled, and continue to battle illnesses related to the events of that day.

We remember the families who continue to reap the loss of their loved ones.

We Will Never Forget September 11th, 2001.

Uvalde firefighters Tristan Hale and Todd Dorris participated in the annual 9/11 stair climb event held in San Antonio this morning. The event, which honors the brave first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, involves participants climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Severe flooding has hit Kerrville, Texas, destroying homes and leaving families without water, food, or essential supplies.

We want to help our fellow Texans during this great time of need, which is why starting Thursday, July 10th at 10am-8pm, the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas will begin collecting donations at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Convenience Store located at 7054 FM1021, Eagle Pass, TX 78852 to support victims of this disaster.

We have a trailer we’re going to fill with donations, and we will be delivering the supplies as soon as it’s full.

Here’s how to help:

✅ Bring clothes, bottled water, canned food, hygiene items, baby supplies/diapers, and other non-perishables

📍 Drop off at the Kickapoo Convenience Store (near the casino entrance)
