153 years ago - In 1873, Susan B. Anthony was fined $100 for attempting to vote in the 1872 presidential election between Ulysses S. Grant and a guy named Horace Greeley. She refused to pay the fine.
Women could finally vote . . . 47 years later, in 1920, with the 19th Amendment.

59 years ago - In 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience made their U.S. debut at the Monterey Pop Festival. At the end of their set, Jimi set his guitar on fire and became an overnight superstar.

41 years ago - In 1985, Weird Al Yankovic released his third album, "Dare to Be Stupid", featuring his Madonna parody "Like a Surgeon", his Kinks parody "Yoda", and his cover of the "George of the Jungle" theme.

26 years ago - In 2000, Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open for the first time by a record 15 strokes. He won it again two other years, in 2002 and 2008.

16 years ago - In 2010, a double-sided sheet of paper that John Lennon hand wrote The Beatles' song "A Day In The Life" sold for $1.2 million.

16 years ago - In 2010, "Toy Story 3" was released. That's the one where Andy goes to college and the toys almost DIE. "Toy Story 4" came out in 2019.
