It doesn’t matter who you are, when a mother is disciplining her child, it’s rude as hell to intervene with comments like “Leave them alone” or “Dont do him like that”. It undermines her authority, no matter how much you think you’re joking. If you can’t support her in any way, then just don’t say anything at all.
