We are the blood of the band,
Descendants of the Kumeyaay,
From San Pasqual we stand,
But are we still here today?
Are we still united as one,
Or have we been divided by greed?
Do we keep the legacy alive,
Or let it fade away with speed?
Family, we are, not just in name,
But in blood, in spirit, in heart,
We share a common history,
A bond that will never depart.
But in this reservation,
Do we see eye to eye?
Or do we let envy and jealousy,
Make our relationships die?
Money and land may come and go,
But our roots run deep in this soil,
Let us not forget our ancestors,
And their love that never spoiled.
For there is no such thing,
As a single native here,
We are a tribe, a family, kin,
Our bond forever near.
Let us put aside the fighting,
The killing with poison and strife,
Let us listen to the Creator,
And live a better, peaceful life.
Our elders are growing weary,
With the weight of pain and sorrow,
Let us show them love and respect,
And cherish them today and tomorrow.
For our day will come,
When we will rise strong and proud,
But until then, let us keep our land,
Our waters, our minds open and loud.
And to you, my cousin mighty Santa,
AKA Marisela Blanco,
I send my love, my prayers, my hopes,
That together, our spirits will grow.
So let us remember, always,
That we are still Kumeyaay,
And together, through thick and thin,
We will stand, come what may.

As I rode to capture the Redrum MC's journey, I felt inspired by the vibrant culture and community that came together at the San Pasqual Indian Reservation, where songs, blessings, and camaraderie set the stage for a memorable ride up to Josie's Hideaway.

I rode ahead to capture the Redrum MC after a beautiful morning at the San Pasqual Indian Reservation, where the songs and blessings served as a powerful reminder of the impact that culture and community can have on our lives; I feel inspired and grateful. Please see the article on Redrum MC below, which is part 2 of the article I wrote on Redrum MC.

**Redrum Motorcycle Club: Riding for Justice and Community**

In the spirit of community and activism, I recently had the privilege of riding alongside members of the Redrum Motorcycle Club, specifically the San Diego chapter, led by President Sam Bearpaw. This indigenous motorcycle club is more than just a group of riders; it stands as an emblem of solidarity and advocacy for Indigenous rights, particularly in the context of the ongoing crisis surrounding missing and murdered Indigenous women (MMIW).

The Redrum Motorcycle Club boasts a diverse membership, with riders hailing from various regions, including Northern California, Canada, Wyoming, Massachusetts, New York, and Utah. This geographical diversity not only enriches the club's culture but also highlights the widespread impact of the issues they advocate for. As I rode alongside these passionate individuals, it became evident that their commitment to raising awareness about MMIW is not simply a mission; it is a heartfelt calling that resonates deeply within each member.

The issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women is a grave concern that has garnered national attention in recent years, but it has been a longstanding crisis within Indigenous communities. The statistics are staggering, and the stories are heart-wrenching. The Redrum Motorcycle Club has taken it upon themselves to use their platform and passion for riding to shed light on these injustices. Through various initiatives, events, and community outreach, they strive to educate the public and advocate for systemic changes that will protect Indigenous women and hold perpetrators accountable.

During our ride, conversations flowed naturally, and I was struck by the camaraderie among the members. There was a palpable sense of purpose in their discussions, whether they were recounting personal experiences, sharing stories of lost loved ones, or strategizing their next outreach efforts. Sam Bearpaw, as the chapter president, exhibited exemplary leadership, guiding the group with a focus on unity, respect, and the importance of community engagement. His dedication to the cause is infectious, inspiring those around him to actively participate in the fight for justice.

The Redrum Motorcycle Club’s activism extends beyond the confines of riding. They participate in awareness campaigns, collaborate with other organizations, and engage in community service, all aimed at uplifting Indigenous voices and advocating for change. Their distinctive colors and logo serve as symbols not just of their identity as riders but of their commitment to a cause that transcends the motorcycle community. On September 20th I was also honored that The Redrum Motorcycle Club gathered at the San Pasqual Indian Reservation ballpark for songs and blessings conducted by Nick Alvarado and his family before the national ride event.

In conclusion, my experience with the Redrum Motorcycle Club was not only exhilarating but profoundly enlightening. It underscored the vital role that community groups play in addressing pressing social issues and emphasized the power of solidarity. As they continue their mission to raise awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women, they remind us all of the importance of advocacy and the need for continued dialogue and action. It was an honor to ride with them, and I look forward to sharing their journey with our readers as they pave the way for justice and change within Indigenous communities and beyond.
