Recycling Today

Recycling Today Visit us at www.recyclingtoday.com The recycling of obsolete and discarded materials is nearly as old as humankind itself.

While we do not go back quite that far, our commitment to the recycling industry dates back to 1963 when Recycling Today was founded as Secondary Raw Materials magazine. Since that time, we have been publishing an increasingly comprehensive trade magazine and continue to be a leader in providing industry news that really matters.

The American Forest & Paper Association has released its "66th Annual Paper Industry Capacity and Fiber Consumption Survey," which shows that fiber consumption declined by 3.5 percent in 2025, with recovered fiber consumption decreasing by 4 percent and wood pulp consumption falling by 3.2 percent.

Though containerboard production declined last year, it continued to account for more than half of total U.S. paper and paperboard capacity.

The waste and recycling industry is strongest when it invests in its future. That’s why we're proud to support the 2026 Environmental Research & Education Foundation Silent Auction with a donated full-page ad in Recycling Today magazine.

Since 1995, the annual auction has raised more than $42 million to fund scientific research, scholarships and educational initiatives that help move the industry forward.

The online silent auction opens TODAY May 26 at 10 a.m. EST and remains open through June 9 at 4 p.m. EST, leading into the live hybrid auction during the Waste Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.

We encourage our industry partners to browse the auction, place a bid and support the research and education initiatives shaping a more sustainable future for waste and recycling. Every contribution helps drive innovation and progress across our industry.
