PIE JESUS
I think one of the best things we could’ve done was truly sit down, slow down, and have an honest look at our work and ourselves. Not only has our music grown through this process, but I believe we have grown as humans, friends, people, and musicians. We’re definitely arriving at a different place than where we started this album, and I feel like that’s the whole point. Too much music nowadays leaves you right where it finds you. There’s no room for growth, no room for the listener to have their own interpretation, no room for anything. It’s jam-packed with an emotionally packaged feeling, telling you how to feel and what to do—a kind of mind control. So, I believe both of us decided, subconsciously and consciously, to really slow it down and make sure each song is a reflection of how we feel. We didn’t want to force those feelings on the listener or the song but to let them organically flow. I’m happier with this body of work than I’ve ever been with anything I’ve been a part of in my life, and because of that, I’m more confident it will find its own audience.
