Michelle Bart has a DREAM…a world without violence.

As Founder and CEO of the National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE), NWCAVE has become an award-winning nonprofit advocating for accountability and justice through their Advocacy Center for Justice.

They tackle all forms of violence including, domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, gun violence, and more.

With over 35 years in the nonprofit and media sectors, Michelle founded NWCAVE to be a voice for crime victims.

Michelle, a r**e survivor herself, she and her team have worked to combat the backlog of r**e kits in Washington State by partnering with Washington State Patrol Crime Lab and elected officials, among many others.

NWCAVE is known for its Missing Children’s Division, conferences, training, and making media matter.

Michelle and Dr. Kathie Mathis, co-founded Spotlight for Justice, a podcast that continued to have raw, candid conversations that shine a light on law, order, and the injustices in our community and society.

Today, that can be heard on KXRWvancouver as a radio show carrying the mission of NWCAVE on the airwaves of the Portland Metro area until posted for listeners all over the world to hear, engage, and take action to a world without violence.

Friends of KXRW’s Food Drive is going strong thanks to the incredible support of our local businesses and community members. But we still need your help to ensure our neighbors facing food insecurity get the support they need.

Our drive runs through the entire month of November, so if you haven’t donated yet, please consider contributing. Every item makes a difference.

Check out the list of participating businesses near you for easy drop-off locations.
Thank you for your generosity and support!

Grief, neon, and a dog with a secret — a new winter episode of Flick Fix with Austin lands tonight!

I’m kicking things off with a trio of recent releases: The Smashing Machine, where Dwayne Johnson delivers his most vulnerable performance yet; Tron: Ares, a sleek, glowing return to the Grid that dazzles even when it stumbles; and Good Boy, a haunted-house tale told through the eyes of a very good (and very startled) dog.

Then for the Spotlight Review, we head into the quiet Oregon woods with Pig (2021). It’s a poetic, surprisingly emotional journey about grief, memory, and the way food can carry the weight of a life. Nicolas Cage truly delivers something special here, and I can’t wait to talk about it.

Tune in tonight at 7PM on KXRW Vancouver 99.9 FM or stream at kxrw.fm — hope you’ll join me for this one. 🍿

💛 Special KXRW Episode: “No Kings Rally – Voices From The Community💛 Click on link to LISTEN! You might hear your voice!

This episode is especially close to our hearts. KXRW’s own Mike Selig did an incredible job field reporting at the recent No Kings Rally in Vancouver, WA — with thoughtful production by Steena Trecha and contributions from Connor Flynn.

We dedicate this episode to Mary and Don Orange, longtime KXRW founding members and sustaining donors who have supported our mission from the very beginning. Mary recently passed away before the rally, but her spirit was very much present — as Don attended on behalf of them both. 💫

Mary and Don’s belief in ethical, local radio helped keep our community’s voice alive. We are forever grateful for their love, generosity, and friendship. We’ll miss Mary deeply, but her light continues to guide KXRW.
