This month on KXRW’s “In the Wilderness,” ambient, classical, and jazz guitarists revel in hypnotic colors! We’ll hear the hues of Durutti Column’s Vini Reilly, while Sean Shibe, Andy Summers, and Rüdiger Krause recast jazz piano works by Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, and Carla Bley as guitar solos. Greek guitarist Antigoni Goni plays excerpts from “Gioconda’s Smile,” a suite originally for orchestra by Manos Hadjidakis, the composer & songwriter whose blending of folk, pop, and classical styles still inspires generations of listeners and performers. 2025 was the Hadjidakis centennial, so tune in! Neil Molloy hosts.

Repeats every Tuesday in January at 8 PM and streams forever here: https://kxrw.fm/in-the-wilderness-soft-guitars-1-6-26/

This month The Baddies for Community, visit our KXRW studio to share
the ins and outs of their very successful food drive for FISH Vancouver in November. They were also featured inThe Columbian on the first page no less, AND on KPTV. They had this idea when they heard that SNAP was endangered and sprang into action to ease the food insecurity burden for local families.
What a wonderful group of young people.
Then, Foodville visits the Friends of Hospice pasta making class, with Edurne Andre, Vancouver’s own Food Educator. For over 40 years Friends of Hospice has provided needed funds for hospice and palliate care for patients and their families. Friends of Hospice hosts various cooking classes throughout the year taught by Edurne Andre, who is passionate about the mission of Friends of Hospice. Visit the Friends of Hospice website for a list of ways to become involved.
Thanks for dropping into Foodville. Email me at [email protected] and just say hello or catch me up on a food centered event you know of.
