“Family of Spies” is a nonfiction book that I started and couldn’t put down. The author states the story started for her when she received a letter from a screenwriter in 1994, as a young mother and wife, expressing a desire to contact her 70-year-old father and learn more about his family’s involvement in the bombing of Pearl Harbor as N**i spies living in Hawaii.

The Van-Far Fall Banquet looked a little different this year, and for good reason. While the annual event traditionally honors all fall sports together, this year’s football team was still on the field, making history by winning districts for the first time since 2000. With the gridiron heroes busy preparing for their next challenge, the spotlight shone on Softball, Cross Country, and Cheerleading.

Laddonia’s Board of Aldermen is seeking to change the town’s ordinance regarding its Light Fund. Currently, the money allocated for the Light Fund could only be spent for lighting the city’s streets. In its request, the aldermen are seeking to change that to “make efficient use of its resources.”
To do this, they are going to place the request to change the ordinance on the next ballot to allow the city’s residents to vote on the matter. The next election is scheduled for April 7, 2026.
