Dolly Parton was 1 of 1. There will never be another like her. Dolly’s music has been part of my entire life… I remember playing “9 to 5” every hour on the radio back in the day. Here is some of my Dolly collection - missing is the 45 of Hard Candy Christmas - one of the greatest Christmas songs ever! Forever on my Turntable!
RIP Dolly.

Record Stores = Community! This time in New Orleans at the incredibly Legendary Louisiana Music Factory!! Whenever I am in the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana Music Factory is a must. No store in the world has more physical music focused on New Orleans / Louisiana - truly a Gold Mine for Music Lovers. If I remember correctly, my first visit was in ‘91 or ‘92, and I’ve made the trek to LMF several times over the years!!

Record Stores = Community - this time at The Attic! Shopping in Pittsburgh was truly a trip down memory lane. Around 1982 I discovered the legendary Jim’s Records - I wish I could remember who told me about it. It was where I bought the Hib-Tone R.E.M. single , countless Smiths and UK singles and the life-changing Conflict fanzine. Then came Jerry’s and along the way- The Attic. Owner Fred Bohn and now son Fred Jr. have been selling all formats of music for decades. It is insane how much music they have - not just in the store but practically all over the neighborhood of Millvale. In my younger years, I remember driving down to Pittsburgh early in the morning after working all night and literally having coffee at 9am as the store opened. It was full of old timers telling Doo W*p stores and talking about why Mad Mike was a genius. We spent hours and hours there and the truth is, we could have spent a week at The Attic and barely scratch the surface. A must-visit store!

Record Stores = Community! Jerry’s is one of the first serious record stores I visited in the early 80’s!
Founder Jerry Weber was one of a kind! The current owner Chris worked at the store for years before acquiring it after Jerry’s passing - it remains heaven on earth for vinyl heads. We must’ve talked to 10 people throughout our trip who mentioned that we should hit Jerry’s on our way, of course that was the plan all along, but the fact that so many people across the country recommended is testimony to how incredibly special this store is. Once again, a must-visit if you find yourself in the area!!!
