It's that time of year again. Holiday reloading extravaganza. Hopefully, I can crank out enough ammo over the holiday break to get through most of the next competition season.

Earned a top 5 finish today in a Halloween themed local USPSA match with some crazy props! Even got a stage win on one stage, woot!

Always Barney Up

Yesterday I shot a USPSA stage where the round count equaled the number of cartridges in my magazine. I had a reload in my stage plan, so I didn't barney up during make ready.

Unfortunately I forgot my reload while executing my stage plan. This wouldn't have been a problem in itself, but I also sent a makeup shot on a called miss. At that point I didn't have enough ammo to complete the stage and had to perform an emergency reload at a sub-optimal place in the stage. That reload added at least two seconds to my time.

Moral of the story: Always barney up!

Just make it standard operating procedure. You never know when that one extra cartridge will make the difference.

Hard work paid off for the 2023-2024 USPSA Section Points race.

I converted my CMMG Mk9 from direct blowback to radial delayed blowback. What a difference! It shoots so soft and flat now. Plus it now feeds hollow points reliably, whereas before it would choke on them.

Hoping to shoot a few matches with it next season and get classified.

Tomorrow's training stage is one of the new USPSA classifiers. This classifier stresses explosive movement out of position and smooth entrances. These are things I'm improving on.

Shooting on the move variant 2 for today. Starting from the back left or right behind the outside poles. Shoot the farthest target while advancing. Shoot the center target while pivoting. Shoot the remaining target while retreating. All shots must pass between the two center poles.
