UPDATE:
On September 22, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a suspect in this ongoing investigation was taken into custody in Miller County, Missouri.

Pursuant to Missouri Supreme Court Rule 4-3.6 (Trial Publicity), neither this office nor the Versailles Police Department is able to release additional details at this time.

I want to assure the public that, based on the information presently available, I believe there is no ongoing threat to community safety.

SHOOTING LEAVES WOMAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION

The Versailles Police Department released the following information regarding a shooting this morning in Versailles:

On 09-22-2025 at approximately 7:34 am we received a call of a possible shooting at the 100 block of S. Burke. Upon officers’ arrival they found an unconscious female with an injury to her head. The patient was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition at this time.

The department has called upon the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad to assist in the investigation.

At this time, we believe the incident was of personal nature and there is no cause for alarm to the public. We are continuing to work on the investigation and will give further information when it
becomes available.

The suspect was wearing a pink hoodie, gloves, mask and sunglasses. If anyone has any information that may assist with the investigation or anyone that was in the vicinity of the incident from around 7:00 am to 7:45am this morning, please contact the Versailles Police Department at 573-539-2580
