Vian leads county on State School Report Cards

Vian’s school system showed strong performance at all three levels on the recent State School Report Card for the 2024-25 school year. Vian Middle School’s overall scores ranked first among all Sequoyah County middle schools. Its elementary school came in second among county elementaries, and Vian High ranked third among the county’s seven high schools.

Bicyclist airlifted after being struck by truck mirror
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor
A bicyclist was seriously injured last Monday afternoon following a collision with a pickup truck along Hwy. 82 in Sequoyah County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

The accident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 22 near the intersection of Hwy. 82 and East 953 Road, near Snake Creek, in an area where roadway construction was underway.
