Another great day in Massachusetts! We started off with a little workout at the hotel in Natick followed by breakfast, a visit to our old church, and then a trip down to Plymouth Rock. We went on the Mayflower II tour (I was a little bummed that they don’t have the actors playing the part of people from 1620 anymore, but the guides were great!). Then we headed out to Cape Cod and the beach in Sandwhich. We wrapped up with some ice cream and headed back to the hotel. Tomorrow we are thinking Rockport and the Boston Aquarium.

Today we made a special delivery of some sweet new RIT College Of Health Sciences and Technology Global Public Health license plate frames to RIT student Sydney Dodds in Springfield, MA and then she showed us where James Naismith introduced the game of basketball to the world! The building was locked, but we could see through a window the gym in the old YMCA building where it was played. We then headed across town to see the Basketball Hall of Fame. Thus begins what should be a fun trip around the Boston area to show Tazio where we lived during my PA school days at Northeastern Universty. Next stop Natick!

Today several members of my Intro to Global Health course participated in Denim Day to raise awareness of sexual assault and to remember the many victims of this awful crime. https://denimday.org/why-denim

Tomorrow (Wednesday April 24th) I will be participating in Denim Day to raise awareness of sexual assault and to support the victims of this awful crime. Many around us are sexual assault survivors and we might never know it as their stories often go untold. If it is appropriate for your personal situation, consider joining me and wear jeans on Wednesday. Here is the backstory on why this approach is used to raise awareness of sexual assault:

Denim Day is a response to erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual harassment, abuse, assault and r**e. We ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion statement and wear jeans with a purpose.

One week from today the The Global Public Health Association at RIT will be hosting our 6th Annual Innovations in Global Public Health Conference. The event runs from 9 AM - 4 PM on Saturday, April 20th in the amazing new SHED building on campus (https://www.rit.edu/shed).
