Listen, from the beginning of the show in November 2016, Ash and I always agreed to indulge every opinion and be as tolerant as we could of others' comments as long as it furthered to overall program.
We have strived to accept alternative viewpoints and treat guests and callers with the utmost respect. I, personally, have only ONE regret and it involved a (somewhat) heated and highly opinionated exchange with Cody Shugart, in about 2017 when we were new, as we escalated over a VISD Bond contents...I should have steered the conversation to a calmer place and allowed it to get elevated. At the time, I thought it was good radio and that it really emphasized how divided the community was on the bond; looking back, I think there's a chance it caused folks to hesitate to call, come by, etc. and that's on me. That said, Cody and I are GREAT friends, not acquaintances, and there is zero residual from the encounter.
There are a handful of foils who are important to the show. For example, Peter McNally leaps to the fore because he embodies the old school Democrat you can't help but love AND he knows his input will stir the pot...he's having fun and so are we.
There is a common comment from the lunatic Left that "we pay the tariffs" and I emphasize we don't have to do so!! I CHOOSE to not pay the tariffs by NOT buying tariffed goods. Tariffs work over time. First, we levy a tariff. Then, Americans say, "No way" and quit buying those goods. That creates a problem for the foreign manufacturer who now has more product than he can sell. Soon, he either negotiates or goes out of business. Ash' coffee is a GREAT example...if the tariff gets high enough, he will find another brand and then Tim Horton's will find a way to exert pressure on Canada's leadership...and the tariff will work.
Folks who don't get this are annoying. It's simple economics and it has already led to new deals with numerous countries that all benefit our country. Japan and the EU would NEVER have cut the deals they agreed to without DJT's resolve to tariff them into oblivion. Stay the course, let time be our ally, learn by listening and be proud to be an American!! The ignorant will always be among us; Wade and Carter will continue to do our part...pay attention!!
