01/17 - 1300 UPDATE: Route 130 is fully re-opened to both lanes of traffic.

1/13 - 0820 UPDATE: The boil order is lifted! Thanks to everyone involved in this repair process, including Illinois American Water who ran the final tests on samples. We appreciate the community's continued understanding and patience throughout this tough process.

01/12 - 12n UPDATE: A&R Mechanical has completed the repair of the storm drain, and are preparing to backfill the entire site. Once completed, the highway concrete will need to be poured, set up and be approved by IDOT before Route 130 can be reopened. It will be entirely at their discretion as is it their road; we hope it will be done quickly but anticipate it being a few more days.

The EPA has not authorized the lifting of the boil order yet. Water samples (required for testing after a boil order has been issued) have been taken to the laboratory for testing, and we are in communication with the EPA so that the boil order can be lifted. As soon as we receive their call we will post here and notify all other media sources.

1/10 - 1730 UPDATE: The highway is cut, and progress is being made to the leak. In the meantime we have turned various valves in order to help build pressure to restore some water to the north half of the City. PLEASE close any open taps/faucets so that there will not be too much of a demand on the system as the water plant comes back online. If we all conserve what is available, more of us will have some water to work with until the towers are filled.

1/11 - 0015 UPDATE: The break in the main has been located, but will require a long section be replaced rather than a simple repair. Our crew and contractor continue to work to secure the replacement pipe and finish the repair. Thanks for your continued patience.

1/10 - 1730 UPDATE: The highway is cut, and progress is being made to the leak. 1/10 - 1400 UPDATE: Route 130 is now closed; the highway has to be cut into to get down to the water main break. You will need an alternate route to get from the north and south ends of town.

1/10 - 0740 UPDATE: Please expect a prolonged delay for water to be restored. We are currently waiting for additional assistance to repair, as the break is deeper than our equipment will accommodate.

BOIL ORDER GOING INTO EFFECT

The City's Public Works department is actively working on a water main break. As the water volume has been deleted, some homes are now without water and a boil order is in effect for the entire City until further notice. While we will continue to work diligently, we ask for your patience as the department is short several people due to COVID exposure.
