Bremen Bluedevil Alumni and local West Georgia Native gets shot @ the WBC World Heavyweight Championship - Preston Haliburton.
Preston retired years ago from boxing, to pursue a career in Law and after building a successful law career, he decided to come out of retirement and pursue his dream of boxing for a World Title.
Preston retired with an undefeated record and thought about the what ifs, for many years and now he is one step away from realizing his boxing dreams and becoming a World Champion.
Veteran German boxing official Holger Wiemann, Vice President of the WBC and one of Europe’s most experienced boxing administrators, has followed the career of Georgia attorney and undefeated professional boxer Preston Haliburton with great interest.
Wiemann, who has officiated hundreds of professional boxing contests as a referee and judge throughout Europe, believes Haliburton’s unique combination of legal success and athletic achievement presents a compelling international sports story.
“Preston Haliburton’s path is unlike most professional fighters,” Wiemann noted. “He has built a respected legal career while maintaining an undefeated professional boxing record. His work on high-profile matters and his connections within the boxing community make him a fascinating figure for international audiences.”
Haliburton’s legal career has included representation and advocacy involving prominent figures, while his boxing journey has brought him into contact with notable names in the sport, including former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and veteran heavyweight contender Kevin Johnson.
According to Wiemann, the story of a practicing trial lawyer pursuing a world title opportunity later in life has generated interest among European boxing fans and promoters. He believes that combination of professional accomplishment, athletic perseverance, and international appeal helped create momentum for Haliburton’s opportunity to compete for a championship in Germany.
“Boxing is built on stories of determination and overcoming obstacles,” Wiemann said. “A successful lawyer returning to the ring to pursue a world title is the type of story that captures attention beyond boxing itself.”
Haliburton is expected to compete in Germany later this year as he continues his pursuit of international championship honors, adding another chapter to a career that has blended success in both the courtroom and the prize ring.
Fight will take place in Germany, in August.
