That's right — kids from around Evangeline Parish read a combined 11,515 books during the library's summer reading program!

This month's "Good News Bench Visitor" is Lige Dupuis — who worked his very first job as a carhop at Bobby's Drive Inn for 50 cents an hour! 🍔🥤 He is shown here on left with his old boss, Bobby Dardeau.

“It was my very first job. I was 12 years old,” Lige recalls. “I was paid 50 cents an hour plus tips and Bobby would give us a hamburger and a Coke at the end of the shift.” Lige recently retired and shared that he just had to get a “Bobby’s Drive Inn mug.” That he did. “Now, I can drink my coffee and remember the good old days.”
