Hawaii Kai Elite and Manoa are only about 20 minutes apart, just outside of state capital Honolulu on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

But the two Hawaiian squads traveled over 4,000 miles to the Vincennes Cub League to see who was best in the Cal Ripken 10-year-old World Series last week.

Lincoln and South Knox both utilized senior-heavy lineups during the 2024 boys tennis season, while Rivet was inexperienced with a mostly freshmen and sophomore group.

This season, it’s the Patriots that are boasting the varsity experience, losing just one starter to graduation, while the Alices and Spartans will have plenty of new faces in their starting lineups.

The area’s volleyball teams primarily hung around the .500 mark last season, and improving the wins and losses too much may be challenging, as all four squads lost significant pieces to graduation.

Not much separated Lincoln, Rivet, and South Knox in 2024, and while North Knox managed only seven wins, the Warriors proved in the postseason they were on equal footing, pushing the Spartans to five sets in the sectional.
