Posting this a day early but wanted to wish my rocking mother a very Happy Birthday!! One of the things I’m glad to have inhabited from her was the love for progressive rock. Her sacred trifecta is Rush, Genesis, and Yes, thus the soundtrack of my childhood was enriched! I love you mom!!

I’ve been glued to my phone between last night and this morning, catching any tidbit relating to the Rush Fifty Something tour kickoff. All I can say is… WOW! I initially found it hard to accept Rush without Neil and thought maybe Alex and Geddy were choosing to go out under the Rush banner because it was a guaranteed sell, but based on what I saw, everything–from the stage presentation to the perfect setlist–does service to what people know and come to expect out of the group. Hats off to the real MVP: Anika Nilles. She honored Neil’s legacy by executing those drum parts with absolute precision, tightness, and speed! What did you guys think?
