In 2022, I served as a Research Assistant with the Geology Department at Fourah Bay College, contributing to a water quality sampling project around the Jui and Allentown communities. I Assisted in the calibration of the pH and Ec electrodes for measurement. Assisted in the measurement of field physical parameters such as pH, EC, Temperature, dissolved oxygen. Recorded field general conditions and well information such as GPS coordinate, well depth, water level. Labeled the sampling bottles according to the well name and the ions (Cations and Anions). Assisted in the preservation of the samples with an ice cool box.

I brought STEM to life through a hands-on lab that introduced students to the basics of energy conversion using natural materials.

The next generation is already hard at work. With curious minds and guided hands, the children explored renewable energy using salt water and lime to generate electricity.

Using salt water or lime (a citrus fruit) as electrolytes, the children were able to generate small amounts of electricity by creating simple voltaic cells. These setups demonstrate the principles of electrochemistry
- where chemical reactions release energy that can be captured and used.
