Looks like rain on Saturday, so we are postponing ‘Stories Under the Stars’ to Sunday, May 3rd.
4PM: Grab some food, enjoy some Double Dutch, set up your chairs
5-7PM: Stories!

Parking is limited, so we encourage those who can to take the Overflow parking is at 2nd Presbyterian Church. Map on 2nd slide. There will be folks there to help you across the bridge :)

Y’all. It’s so much fun. From 5-6pm on May 2nd come and see Mrs. Adrena Foy and friends Double Dutch. Afterwards we will get to hear her story of coaching incredible Double Dutch for Norfolk Parks and Recreation. Just sayin’—it’t not to be missed.

It’ Black History Month, so it’s….business as usual celebrating stories from historically Black places, spaces, and faces!

Slide 1.) Sign unveiling for Great Neck, a historically Black neighborhood in Virginia Beach

Slide 2.) Paul Haynes, .0 from “VB: The Safe House” episode sharing that recording his story for Truth Be Told: Virginia sparked his desire to be a history holder for his community. I know that spark was already within him and created by the example set by his parents, John and Phyllis Haynes. During his remarks he listed the names of the families that comprised the Great Neck neighborhood, and It. Was. Powerful.

Slide 3.) Jackie and I recorded a video for Middle School students who had written a play inspired by what they learned from listening to the podcast! Highlight of our year, honestly.

🎙️ Continually grateful to who believed in this idea from the beginning, and who is making sure that these spaces are marked.
