As the federal government reopens, there are fears we could be headed for another government shutdown in just a matter of weeks. Mark Caleb Smith, Director for the Center for Political Studies at Cedarville University, and David Brody, CBN’s Chief Political Analyst, joined Faith Nation to discuss that and a new wave of Jeffrey Epstein related scrutiny facing the White House.

The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago has filed a lawsuit against the Board of Education of the City of Chicago, claiming the district barred their students from participating in a student-teacher program because of the college's faith-based hiring policies.

The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a non-profit legal group, filed a lawsuit on behalf of the college earlier this month in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Moody Bible Institute's Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education program requires prospective teachers to complete a minimum number of classroom observation, practicum, and student-teaching hours.

However, the lawsuit argues that Chicago Public School officials are refusing to allow Moody students to participate in its student-teaching program unless Moody abandons its religiously based hiring practices and hires employees who disagree with Moody's core mission and biblical values.

Pastor Greg Laurie is on a mission to bring hope and healing to Utah Valley University, the campus in Orem, Utah, where conservative and Christian commentator Charlie Kirk was assassinated Sept. 10.

Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California and founder of the Harvest Crusades — popular, large-scale evangelistic events — is planning a Nov. 16 event on the UVU campus.

“We have been talking with pastors in Utah about doing one of our Harvest Crusades,” he said. “We do them in stadiums, arenas, around the country, around the world, and I’ve been doing them for over 30 years — and so the folks, some of the pastors, came to us from Utah and said, ‘Would you come and do one here?'”

Initially, Laurie didn’t plan to do an event in Utah until 2027, but Kirk’s assassination at UVU changed everything. The Harvest team reached out and asked how they could help after the tragedy unfolded.

Israel says Hamas has handed over one of the last four remaining hostages taken during the October 7th attack that launched the war in Gaza. Since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on Oct. 10, the remains of 25 hostages have been returned to Israel. Another three still must be recovered and returned.

A new round of clashes between Druze armed groups and government forces in southern Syria flared up Thursday, with both sides blaming each other for violating a ceasefire from July. Reports indicate several injuries but no deaths.

And U.S. Sen. John Fetterman had what his office says was a “ventricular fibrillation flare-up” that caused him to feel light-headed and fall during an early morning walk. Fetterman was hospitalized in Pittsburgh, but his office reported that he is doing well.

Shutting down the government for political points has a negative financial impact on the whole country, not to mention the very people that politicians claimed they were trying to help... like SNAP recipients.

The longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history may be over, but a return to normal operations could take considerable time. Millions of federal workers, government services, and systems remain stretched thin as the 43-day standoff concludes.

The economic impact could be significant, according to analysts.

"Fourth quarter growth could have contraction of 1.5 percent during that three-month period, and by contrast the growth for a full year is averaging around 2 percent. That's a significant hit," said Mark Hamrick, senior economic analyst at Bankrate.

Israel and Iran are reportedly preparing for another war, although some analysts say it may not happen immediately. At the same time, the situation in Gaza appears frozen, with little progress on the ceasefire agreement and rising tensions in other Palestinian areas of the West Bank.

Iranian officials say their missile factories are operating around the clock because they hope to launch 2,000 missiles at once “to overwhelm Israeli defenses, rather than 500 over 12 days” as they did in June.

You don't just end up in the wilderness — you're drawn there. You follow something — a voice, a promise, a man who says he can show you the way.

That's what happened to Lindsay Tornambe. At 11 years old, her family headed into the woods of northern Minnesota, chasing what they thought was truth. They joined a small group called River Road Fellowship, a community that claimed to follow God with purity and passion. But it wasn't a community. It was a cult.

And its leader, a man named Victor, wasn't a prophet. He was a master manipulator who used the name of God to control and abuse. He broke spirits and called it holiness. He stole childhoods and called it devotion.

24 years after 9/11, a foreign-born Muslim will soon be sworn in as mayor of New York City. Incoming mayor Zohran Mamdani has a history of supporting extreme anti-Israel ideas, and his election may certainly inspire more far-left Muslims to enter politics.

Mamdani made numerous comments during the campaign, which have now inspired the Anti-Defamation League to launch a new project called the 'Mamdani Monitor' to track his administration. For example, during the campaign, he declined to condemn the violent phrase "globalize the intifada."

But the Islamic agenda for America goes beyond politics. Appearing on this week's episode of The Global Lane, religion and culture expert Alex McFarland warns Americans to be careful about the Islamist influence in states like Texas, where sharia law is a growing concern.

While the government shutdown is over, experts predict the economic effects of those missed paychecks and layoffs may have a trickledown effect in the days ahead. Mark Hamrick, Senior Economic Analyst at Bankrate, joined Faith Nation to discuss the shutdown's long term financial impact.

Late Wednesday night President Trump signed legislation to officially reopen the federal government after a 43-day shutdown, the longest in U.S. history. Victoria Churchill, a political commentator with Young Voices, joined Faith Nation to discuss the shutdown's winners, losers, and the political fallout.

From continued military strikes in Gaza to a pardon request letter from President Trump to deep divisions over ceasefire implementation, the regional dynamics continue to shift and challenge Middle East peace efforts.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog confirmed receiving a letter from Trump urging him to consider granting a pardon to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu...

Meanwhile, the White House has flatly denied a report that the U.S. is planning to establish a large military base in Israel near the Gaza border to maintain a ceasefire.
