The story of a teenager who fell through the ice, was underwater for 15 minutes, and was clinically dead for over an hour before miraculously being brought back to life, has captivated audiences.

His story was so compelling that it was made into a feature film, “Breakthrough,” starring Chrissy Metz of “This Is Us” fame.

Jason Noble, the real-life preacher who ministered to Smith’s family during the ordeal, recently reflected on the ongoing impact of the story nearly a decade later. “It’s a modern-day Lazarus story,” he said.

While young John lay dead in a hospital, his mother turned to the Lord and pleaded for her son’s life...

We are reminded throughout thousands of years of Holy Scripture of the importance of giving thanks for our spiritual well-being. Now, doctors also recommend developing a deep sense of gratitude because of the health benefits.

Research overwhelmingly shows that an attitude of gratitude is good for our health, both mentally and physically, primarily because it reduces stress, the so-called "silent killer."

Most of us know that Pilgrims held the first Thanksgiving to celebrate miraculously surviving their first harsh winter in America. But another part of history is fairly unknown: an even more impressive miracle saved the Pilgrims and nearby Indian tribes just two years later.

That first winter of 1621 had really been a killer, wiping out 51 of the original 102 settlers in the Plymouth colony. But then their first crop thrived. In fact, they found they could grow five times as much on a plot of land here as on the same size plot back in England.

Pilgrim re-enactor Leo Martin told CBN News, "They thought that they ought to thank God for that. So they had a Thanksgiving."

Things were going very well, but then 1623 brought a drought that threatened to wipe out all the crops of the Plymouth plantation and nearby Indian tribes....

PRAY for a Spiritual Awakening in America 🙏 🙏

"I think the state of the Bible in America is hopeful," said Dr. Plake. "We've had times when we were more centered around the Bible than we are today, when there were more Bible users than there are today; maybe more scripture-engaged people than there are today. But there is a curiosity and an interest in the Bible that I've not seen in 36 years of full-time ministry."

The Pilgrims didn't just give America Thanksgiving celebrations. They believed religious freedom and liberty were worth dying for. They made the Bible America's most-read guide to life. And the Pilgrims' covenant with God and man in 1620 and the form of self-rule they pioneered would eventually shape America's Constitution and the entire government.

"The Pilgrims founded America for all intents and purposes," argues Prager U founder Dennis Prager.

In those days, England demanded all its citizens belong to the Church of England and conform to its beliefs…or face harsh punishment. "They just wanted to worship Jesus and the purity of the Gospel, and the king wouldn't let them do that. He was ruling over their conscience. That's why they fled," historian Jerry Newcombe explained to CBN News.

Hollywood icon Dyan Cannon is known for hit movies like Heaven Can Wait and Such Good Friends. But she is perhaps best known for her marriage to the legendary actor Cary Grant. The 88-year-old recently opened up that being a Hollywood starlet in the '70s wasn't easy, and it was only after hitting rock bottom that she found comfort in the arms of Jesus.

"I became a movie star with my name above the title. I married a man who was like the most famous man in the world. And that was all good, but it was like a band-aid," she shared on the podcast God's Table Hollywood, which she hosts alongside Tracy Bregman, Kym Douglas-Robertson, and Christine Avanti-Fischer.

FBI Director Kash Patel says two West Virginia National Guard members who were shot just blocks from the White House are still alive and in critical condition.

West Virginia’s governor initially said the troops had died, but later walked back the statement to say his office was “receiving conflicting reports” about their condition.

A suspect who was in custody also was shot and had wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to an anonymous law enforcement official...

U.S. and Ukrainian negotiators are in Switzerland this week, working out the details of a peace plan brokered by the Trump administration.

Ukraine's new ambassador to Washington, Olga Stefanishyna, is serving at a defining moment for her country, and for U.S. policy. Just months into the job, she's tasked with securing deeper American support, as the war with Russia enters a critical phase.

Ambassador Stefanishyna says Ukraine supports President Trump's efforts toward peace. "The commitment of the President of the United States is something that could really bring so much purpose in all of that. So whatever could be done to back up his efforts should be done. But also, we understand that justice, fairness is the bottom line for any decision."

In the Jewish tradition, gratitude is not only a feeling. It is a response to a sacred question. That question is "Ayeka?" "Where are you?"

And the answer our tradition gives us is the answer of our forefather Abraham: "Hineni." "Here I am."

Hineni, lived out, is spiritual resilience—the kind that has carried the Jewish people through every chapter of our history.

Our tradition teaches this through the story of the Red Sea. The first song in the Bible is sung not after the Israelites reached safety, but while walls of water rose on either side and danger pressed in. They sang because they recognized the miracle of being carried forward. They sang because gratitude does not wait for certainty.

This is Thanksgiving: not the absence of fear, not the comfort of easy answers, but gratitude inside the unknown—because we trust that God walks with us.

Former MLB Star Darryl Strawberry is giving "all glory to God" after President Trump granted clemency to the three-time World Series champion for a 1995 tax evasion charge.

The former New York Mets star preached at Sheridan Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma and told congregants about the presidential pardon saying, "God just completely set me free when he gave me a pardon from President Donald J. Trump."

"Other presidents had opportunities, but they didn't do it," he added.
