Beauty starts on the inside. And sometimes, it takes a journey through the hardest parts of life to really understand what that means.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I never imagined that one day I would look at the scars on my body and see something beautiful.
For a long time, those scars were a reminder of everything I had lost. They made me feel vulnerable. They were something I wanted to hide.
But somewhere along the way, my perspective changed.
I realized the very thing I thought made me less beautiful was actually telling one of the most beautiful stories of my life; a story of faith, courage, resilience and survival.
Beauty isn’t the absence of scars.
It isn’t perfection.
And it certainly isn’t just what we see in the mirror.
Sometimes beauty is what remains after you’ve been through something that could have broken you but yet you flourished.
My scars don’t make me less beautiful.
They remind me of the woman who fought to still be here. 🤍
