Today is our 48th wedding anniversary. It's hard to put into words the joy that comes from two people sharing all life has to offer - the good and the not so good - while still respecting each other as unique individuals. That was written into our wedding vows...and is still the mantra we live by.

To our wonderful Friends...To the Family members who have stood by us...To the Gifted Musicians in our Circle: Thanks for being there and supporting us on this incredible journey together.

Today, Tania and I raise our glasses to our life, to our love, and to the moments we'll share in the years yet to come...❤

To My Supporters and Friends...

You may have noticed that I have not been posting much lately. There are several reasons...but life in general and medical issues seem to be topping the list in the last year or so. The loss of Barry and some close friends, and, the never ending surprises of getting older give pause for reflection and recalibration: what you might call "checking off the boxes".

Careers in Education, Music and Technology have been the focus of my life for over 50 years...a focus many of you have shared with me through our creativity and collaborations. And...although those careers continue, they are not the central focus of my life.
he box that needs the most attention at this stage is dedicating the lion's share of my time to my health - allowing me to experience my remaining years with joy and energy...and to Tania...so we can love and appreciate the many years we have left together. The first is a routine that is (for me) a true challenge to develop; the second is the relationship I have delighted in my entire adult life.

To this end I have made sure that sharing the constant connection we have had over the years…my music…is easily and readily available to you. The music catalog, the videos, the podcast and audiobook episodes, the stories, the performances, the pictures and the history of creative collaborations with Tania and scores of the finest studio and live musicians from Southeast Virginia will always be there for you through my website and via YouTube.

I hope you will continue to enjoy them for many years to come.

Today, we honor our fathers...and our good fortune to have them there to set the example we need(ed) to become the people he could be proud of....Tania and I miss him every day...❤

We are here today to honor the life of Willard Farley, a small-town West Virginia boy whose life was devoted to his family and friends.
As a son, his love and respect for his parents, brothers and sisters remained constant throughout his lifetime.

As a husband, his love and dedication for fifty-three years were a testament to his desire to share the joys of life with June, and to raise the family they had always dreamed of.

As a father, his discipline was tempered by his teaching, his good example, his desire to provide his sons and daughters-in-law with every opportunity, the pride he showed in their successes and the support he gave them when they fell.

As a friend, he could be counted on at a moment’s notice to lend a hand or offer support. This can be remembered in the scores of building projects, bedside visits and cookouts he participated in. He most enjoyed the laughter, conversation and companionship that were the real joy of the work and the heart of the gathering.
And as a man he set the finest example of honesty, integrity, wisdom and kindness. His sense of humor brightened our moments with him, and we are all better people in having him as a part of our lives.

Today, he is with God. But if he were here, I believe he would say:
Do not shed a tear for me; it was heaven on earth among you; I loved you all. As his son, and for my brothers, I would like to quote a line from a song I wrote for him:

“Someday you’ll be thinking of ways that you’ve been bought and then been sold.
You’ll see that what you’re telling is mostly due to what you have been told.
And when you search you’re memory and sift through all the shadows you will find
That the maker is the father…..the son is now the maker
And both of them are really one in kind.”

Reflecting on a lot of history this week...D-Day...U.S. and World...Family...Music...The homes we've made, my classrooms, the studios, and the stages. All of it wonderful...full of meaningful moments with exceptional people....sharing all of those years and moments with Tania.
The archive I turn to most often is music:; 1974-2024. To be there for every track, every song, every intersection with every musician and engineer...and to have the recordings not only to remind me of the moments in time, but to share with those who helped me create the moments, and, with those who enjoyed and supported them for five decades.

Today is Tania’s birthday…! Many of you know her as the beautiful and talented musician and vocalist from her stage and studio performances. She is all that…and so much more. Generous to a fault…kind and understanding to all in her circle. A dedicated caregiver for both of my parents and her mother. She has made a distinctive home for us wherever we have lived. Had many successful personal business ventures. Gifted in art and craftwork in several genres. Creates absolutely stunning Christmas trees and seasonal wreaths. Continues to be the love of my life, my wife, my best friend, my staunchest supporter, honest critic, and true believer in how genuine a marriage of two unique individuals can become. I am blessed to have her with me…and I give thanks for her everyday.

Tania and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague, Michael Monahan...a relationship that lasted over four decades...on stage and in the studio.
Our hearts go out to his family and friends...hoping they find peace...reflecting on the personal and musical memories he gave to us all...❤
